As I don't really wish to get a reputation of being someone who is ungrateful for gifts given, I will review a perfume that was a gift, and although not likely to become a favourite, it is growing on me the more I wear it.
As I have said in previous reviews, I do like most perfumes and like to try new ones. I am always pleased to receive fragrances as a gift.
Versace Metal Jeans was a gift. The EDT spray was part of an impressive looking gift set. I thought on receiving it that I would like it, especially as I like Versace's Pink Jeans and the Blue Jeans fragrance.
When I smelled the top of the bottle, even without spraying, I found this fragrance very overpowering, and cloying, perhaps even headache inducing.
On first applying the Metal Jeans I didn't like it. In fact, I thought I wouldn't wear it outside of the house. Still, I don't give up too quickly and left it upon my wrists.
But then, after no more than ten minutes, the aroma changed, becoming more subtle. I then found it to be quite pleasant and would describe it best as being flowery, perhaps powdery in its scent.
I can't imagine this fragrance would ever be one of my favourites, but from when first sampled, and initially seeming overbearing it does become much nicer. It's quite pretty, in fact.
I find that the top notes fade fairly quickly, making way for the more interesting yet somewhat more subtle smell which seems to me to be a mix of floral and spice. I considered it quite exotic in its essence.
Freesia, neroli and lily.
Jasmine rose, spiced gently with nutmeg.
Grey amber, sensual musk and powdery vanilla.
AS I have said it seems to me as if the top notes fade quite soon but then the perfume smells nicer and settles. The smell then remains for quite a while. I would say its lasting power is fairly good, perhaps better than many fragrances that are at the cheaper end of the price range.
I received this as a box set and was pleased with the presentation. The box is of a mauve/ dark pink metallic colour with silver cross the lid. It contained a 75 ml EDT spray along with two further items- a body milk and a bath and shower foam.
I don't think the bottle on its own is anything special. In fact it reminds me of a small cola bottle. It is chunky and the glass is a dark metallic pink colour with a slight dull glitter effect. The lid is metallic pink. I think the desired effect is to be modern but I don't especially like it.
I think that probably, if the EDT is purchased independently then it would as with the other Versace Jeans fragrances, come in a cylindrical shaped tin which would add to the effect.
Although I think the house of Versace intended this to be modern and therefore probably aimed at a young market, it doesn't put me in mind of a particularly modern scent. I consider it suitable for females of all ages.
Versace Metal Jeans is classed as a floral fragrance and recommended for daytime use. I would probably lean more towards daytime than evening wear but wouldn't think it unsuitable for evenings.
My Versace Metal Jeans was bought in high street fragrance store. There are many on line outlets which stock this perfume, along with other products from the same range. Here is a small selection of these sites:
