Yellow Diamond was a Versace perfume released a few years ago and this is an updated version of that fragrance, called Intense because it has been added to and made stronger in smell. This is the smallest bottle available unless it's included in any of the Versace mini fragrance gift sets, I don't think it is because it's too new to have been in their pre Christmas sets as it was only released for 2014 so you'll have to resort to splashing out nearly £40 for this small bottle or up to £80 for a larger 100ml bottle. I don't usually wear expensive perfume so was excited to try this and have been wearing it every day since I received it.
The top notes of a perfume is the fragrance you first smell when you apply it. Versace Yellow Diamond Intense lists Neroli, Citron, Bergamot and Pear Sorbet as its top notes but I can't smell any of those for the first few minutes and only the smell of the alcohol in the perfume is clearly apparent. After that wears off the perfume is slightly citrus and that is a sensible finish for the top notes because of the Bergamot and Citron, I think I can smell something that's a little bit like pear but I'm not sure if I'm just telling myself that now because I know it's in there.
Middle notes are Orange Blossom, Jasmine, Osmanthus and Freesia and they take over from the top notes quite early on in the perfume to make it very floral but some of the citrus fragrance lingers so that it doesn't turn into the sort of floral perfume older ladies wear and even with such a lot of flower notes I'm happy that the fragrance stays fresh and bubbly.
It's the base notes I don't like very much and it's these that cause the musky fragrance, it's still a nice perfume but I think the musk makes it much heavier for the last two or three hours and that's disappointing because it smells like a completely different perfume to the one I wore through the top and middle notes. The base in Yellow Diamond Intense is made up of Amber, Musk, Benzoin and Guaiac Wood. These mix together to give a very rich fragrance that I think it is a little bit powdery but smoky too, sometimes I actually feel like I can smell tobacco smoke for the last part of the perfume and even though other people have told me I don't smell like I've been smoking I can't stop feeling like the very end of Yellow Diamond Intense has got quite a dirty fragrance that I don't like very much.
This is a great product is you like scents to remind you of spring, happy scents wafting off of you that maybe you can smell down the road.
This for me was just way to strong even after one spritz, even spraying in the air and then walking through was too much for me.
For some people, this s perfect but I like my scents to be discreet. This has a strong, overpowering smell.
The design as a whole was not appealing to me. From the color of the box even to the bottle, it was not something I personally would want to grab and use however this was given as a gift and I unfortunately didn't like it, don't tell them.
The baroque look isn't for me.
TOP NOTES: PEAR SORBET, BERGAMOT, NEROLI, ORANGE BLOSSOM
MIDDLE NOTES: FREESIA MIMOSA
BASE NOTES: WOODS MUSK
Now I'm no expert but for me I believe the following notes were too much- WOODS, ORANGE BLOSSOM, FREESIA
Slightly sickly at times. Sorry:(
I fell in love with the packaging first of all. It was dark Winter day and the box is a gorgeous vivid citrus colour with a gold Hermes type design. The bottle is very pretty and dumpy with an acrylic diamond cut stopper. I like Versace perfumes, I have Blonde and I buy L'Homme for my man.
The perfume is not at all citrusy except way back in the mix, which is good because I do not like fruit salady or grapefruit scents. It smells of mimosa, freesia, musk and bergamot with amber and pear. There is a woodsy greeness to it which is like oak moss.
It is characterised as floral and fruity, but the fruity pear and neroli peters out and you are left with a bright floral smell, not unlike Elizabeth Arden's 5th Avenue, but more subtle.
When to wear it
This is a great everyday perfume. I wear it for work. It is a Springlike, dainty, young fresh smell. It says it lasts for 7 hours, but the EDT is more like 3-4. It is nice for a daytime rendezvous, a walk with your lover, or a coffee in the park. It is not sexy or bedroomy. It is chic and light.
This is a fairly new perfume and is in the range of Crystal Noir and Bright Crystal. The advertising campaign is set in Paris and photographed by the fashion photographer, Mario Testino. It is very glam, possibly more so than the perfume.
A lovely light perfume for every day. The glitzy box and bottle are a pleasure to look at. It is subtle and non-sickly.
Reasonably priced. £21.99 with body cream- Boots special offer
Versace Yellow Diamond Eau De Toilette. The fragrance unveils like a burst of light, gleaming and glistening. The crystalline luminosity of citron from Diamante the generous freshness of a pear sorbet fused amonghst sparkling notes of bergamot and dynamic accents of neroli. The rare elegance of orange blossom shines through the light of freesia and mimosa and the natural transparecy of nymphea. The sensuality of ambery woods, the sunny and vibrant character of palo santo woods, the refined presence of musk.
