Great floral scent! This is the bomb!

      *Review updated 19.08.2013*

Having originally purchased the 15ml travel size version I loved the smell so much I committed to purchasing the 50ml version. A costly purchase at £49.99 however I feel this product is worth the price tag for the smell alone. Flowerbomb is a very sweet, floral (patchouli) type scent which is instantly recognisable.

Although one downside to the product is that I find the scent doesn't tend to last that long, the scent comes with a very economical and efficient spray meaning that you don't tend to use much. I find the perfume is versatile and can be used either during the day or at night. However as the bottle is fairly bulky it is difficult to split into a clutch for the night, which is a problem given that the scent does seem to need regular application. Saying this, I absolutely adore the smell and would definitely recommend the product. If only they could sort out a smaller (and cheaper) version!

      Updated 19.08.2013 -

Flowerbomb perfumes come in 3 different types - Flowerbomb, Flowerbomb extreme (which comes in a darker bottle) and spice-bomb (for men). This review is of the ordinary Flowerbomb version.

The perfume comes in a gorgeous box bottle which is pink and black. Although I am not a big fan of the colour pink - I do like the colour scheme and I don't think it looks too cheap or tacky. The bottle fits perfectly into the box and there isn't much wastage at all. The box is also sealed in a plastic cellophane so you know it hasn't been previously used. Added to this when you get the bottle of perfume out of the box there is a black wax like tag on the perfume which you snap off when you start using the product.

The bottle is a clear glass bottle which is very sturdy. The glass is very thick and patterned - although you can still clearly see the perfume inside which is clear (with a little tint of pink). The glass is very thick which I think adds to the grandeur of the product although it does mean that there is a lot less product in the bottle than perhaps you would see on first glance! There is a silver plastic cap on the pump which is great to stop any accidental 'bag sprays'! Also there is a small silver plater on the front which has the flowerbomb victor and rolf logo. Whilst the cap is useful as it is plastic I do find it ruins the whole look of the perfume as it cheapens it. Mine has become a bit dented from knocking around in my bag too!

You only need to take the lid off to smell the perfume. The smell is sweet although not too overpowering and I have had lots of compliments from it from women and men! Although everyone has different tastes when it comes to perfumes I have had younger (20's/30's) and older women (50's/60's/70's) comment on how nice it is so I really think this is a perfume that can appeal to all!

      So to summarise...

      Pros
      Versatile - day/night
      Wide appeal
      Smell is gor-geous!
Not much spray is needed as it is strong

      Cons
Scent only lasts a few hours
      Plastic does cheapen the look
      Expensive!

All in all I would definitely buy this again though. I just won;t wear it everyday to save the ££'s!!

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Would make a great gift.

I purchased this in the boxing day sales and I have been using it everyday since. I bought this for £55 in Debenhams however the price varies between stores and the bottle comes in different sizes. I chose the 50ml bottle. £55 is more than I would usually spend on a fragrance and if I hadn't been given money over Christmas it would have been out of my price range.

I adore the packaging of the flowerbomb as it is very feminine and expensive looking. The bottle is grenade shaped with a silver lid. It comes in a large pink box with silver ribbon like stripes on it. The names of the fragrance is etched on black plastic on the front of the box. I feel the box is very large in comparison to the size of the bottle which I find frustrating as I tend to keep my fragrances in their boxes and keep in my bag to use throughout the day however it takes up too much space to do this.

The fragrance is light pink and similarly colored to the box. As the name would suggest the smell is very floral and sweet but not too overpowering. As I mentioned earlier I don't carry the bottle with me so I was hoping it would last the whole day. I was pleasantly surprised as the fragrance lasted well and even the following day I could still vaguely smell the fragrance on my clothes and scarf.

I have been using the same bottle for 6 weeks and have used about under a quarter of a bottle so I am impressed by how long a small bottle has lasted me considering how much I use.

Overall this is one of my favourite fragrances which I would purchase again in spite of the price tag.

        Feminine, floral & fresh!

This perfume is absolutely lovely. It is flowery (as you can probably guess from the name!) and subtle, yet effective. It is perfect for day wear and night wear. I loved this perfume so much that I kept revisiting it in the shop for a cheeky sniff until I could afford to buy it! It was definitely worth it. It is so fresh and fragrant, but not overpowering. I find it has a unique smell and makes you feel classy with just a spray - a feeling I would say is pretty priceless! The perfume is very well named as it does explode floral notes, femininity and elegance. Plus the bottle I'm sure you'll agree is just too pretty for words! Even the packaging it came in was a hot pink box that I could not wait to get my mits on! Mmm... I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a new scent. After trying so many different perfumes I think this has quickly become my favourite. Love it!

If you like Angel, try this! A gorgeous wearable scent

Flowerbomb is a scent from Viktor and Rolf, an Amsterdam based fashion house founded in 1993. They branched out into fragrance in 2005 with this scent and have since produced two others.

Flowerbomb Eau de Toilette can be purchased in two sizes, 50ml and 100ml. These cost around £50 and £68 respectively and are available online and from good fragrance counters. The 50ml comes in an eight sided bottle about 3 inches tall with a shiny silver cap. The 100ml bottle is a multifaceted grenade shape designed to resemble a cut diamond and evoking the explosive nature of the name. Both bottles show the attractive pale dusky pink perfume inside.

The perfume notes are green tea, bergamot, sambac jasmine, orange tree, catleya orchid, freesia, rose, and amber, musk, and patchouli. Don't be put off by this though. I'm not a big patchouli fan but I found this very wearable.

When first applied I found this very fresh and citrusy. The green tea is very prominent giving it a clean scent. As it dries, it becomes sweeter. I couldn't pick out most of the individual flowers in this and wouldn't describe the scent as particularly floral. I could detect the rose but mostly to me it smelt like sugary sweets or some sort of dessert. The throw is small, but enough that I got comments on my perfume, and I found it lasted for around 6 hours. I'd recommend carrying the bottle with you for a top up if you want to wear it for longer than that.

I thought this was similar to Angel which is one of my favourite perfumes, and found this very wearable both during the day and in the evening. It's feminine and sensual without being too girly.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

This is a gorgeous perfume that I will never stop wearing

This has to be my favourite perfume!! I have used a fair few fragrances over the years such as Hot Couture, hypnotic poison and Coco Mademoiselle, but this tops all of them! Viktor and Rolf really set the standard when they made this.
This fragrance is elegant, classy and unusual. Everytime I have worn this someone has commented on how good i smell or asked me what perfume I am wearing. I will never forget the first time I smelt this perfume, in the perfume shop at Heathrow airport! Flowerbomb is a femine, floral and frightfully powerful perfume. If you want to wear the scent of a true woman then buy this.

I would recommend this to anyone who likes to wear a scent that doesn't go unnoticed. For example, I am a big fan of Hot Couture and Hypnotic poison - these scents don't go unnoticed. Flower Bomb is not a light perfume.

However, if you are going to buy this I would recommend splashing out on the Eau de parfum, purely because the scent lasts for longer.

          Pros:
          Smells AMAZING
          Unusual
          Elegant scent
Exclusive - you can't buy this just anywhere

          Cons:

          There aren't any!

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          Flower Power indeed!

Just like the name suggests this fragrance is very floral indeed, it does smell really fresh and nice with a blend of freesia, roses and jasmine flower scents, so if you are a fan of florals then this fragrance was made for you. It is a very appealing smell that i can always recognise, but it won't be for everyone especially those who have a particular dislike of flowery perfumes.

I have to say it is quite strong so you only need to put a very smell amount on, but i suppose that is good because it means your bottle of perfume will last you longer which is a positive with this Victor & Rolf fragrance as it is quite expensive to buy.

Personally i don't think this scent is quite suitable for younger people but everyone else it will suit. I also think it's best to be worn on a day time. It has a nice little pink bottle with a black rose attached so it's not too much but still looks nice.

A 50ml bottle of this perfume is about £50 so it's certainly not the cheapest perfume to buy, so if you're on a tight budget you might want to opt for something else.

It's worth saving for the EDP...

          The fragrance

Don't let the name fool you - FLOWERBOMB isn't an explosion of floral notes. In fact I can only seperate one floral note in the EDT version.

The main thing I love about the EDT is the long top note of green tea; It's so fresh and zingy. It adds a sense of energy and refreshment when applied to skin.

Sadly everything goes downhill from there. Being an EDT the notes of the already soft florals are watered down, so the jasmine envelopes them, so I can't seperate anything else other then the sweetness of the heavier jasmine. Oh; the jasmine does mingle with the lingering tea note, prolonging it further still.

The base is rather flat and boring. Just a commonly used musky sandelwood blend, sweetened up by the remaining jasmine notes. Considering the price and high number of awards I was expecting something a bit more 'wow'.

It's a EDT, so don't expect to get a lot of wear per spritz, despite the cost. It's goes close to the skin quickly and wears of within 4 hours.

As it's lighter and fresher than the EDP you can wear it all year round. The original can cause headaches in warmer weather, but I've not had any problems with this.

          My opinion
          - - - - - - - - -

Although I adore the more developed tea note in this and like that it's easier to wear, I'll go back to the EDP after I've finished my bottle.

Initially I thought I was being clever by saving a bit of money going for the EDT rather then the EDP, but it's still expensive and is noticably flatter. Nice, but for the price I wanted it to be just as complex as the EDP.

Conclusion: It's worth paying more for the more complex EDP variant.
