Disadvantages: price

Whenever I go away somewhere or my parents are off on another holiday I almost always find myself thinking about buying a duty free perfume. I'm not somebody who gets through perfume very quickly so it is nice to have a new bottle once a year to keep my going whilst I use my favourite perfumes too.

This is something my parents picked up for me on their most recent trip and it wasn't something I would necessarily choose for myself so I was exciting to try it. I was also pretty pleased because this towards the more expensive end of the perfume spectrum with a 30ml bottle retailing at around £50. My parents obviously got it for less than that but even so I was excited to try a relatively expensive perfume.

The bottle is really quite beautiful and very clever and witty too. Like the name would suggest this perfume bottle is designed to look like a hand grenade. It is made from cut glass which is shaped like the outside of a grenade, with many faces. The top is a coppery coloured metal cap and on the side a little black plastic tag which is made to look like the tag you pull to set off a grenade.

The bottle is very humorous and an interesting take on a classic floral perfume. I love how they've made a little joke with the bottle and yet somehow still made it so very stylish. The pink perfume inside beautifully sets it off and makes it looks uber girly but with a hard edge which I think is just fantastic for a young modern woman.

The perfume lives up to the name, it really is an explosion of florals. The notes in this perfume are rose, osmanthus, orchid and jasmine. All these beautiful flowers combine to make a sumptuous and rich floral scent which is the ultimate evocation of a beautiful summers day. The scent smells very English to me, almost as though you are sat in a beautiful garden in the height of and English summer. There are also some quite mysterious, deep and sexy notes which have a real sensuality to them and adds a sexiness which deepens the scent and gives it a slightly more mature edge.

Floral scents can often fall into the realm of being a little powdery and old. Personally I love a floral scent but this one does have a really clean, fresh smell to it which stops it from becoming old ladyish. It feels young, it feels exciting and most of all it feels very chic.

Due to the price I have to say this isn't something I would dash out to pick up for myself. That said, I've loved having it as a gift and wouldn't hesitate to ask for it again as it really is a stunning perfume.

Overall, a beautiful floral scent but beware the price explosion.

Summary: A lovely perfume filled with floral scents.
