Fields of flowers (Vivienne Westwood: Boudoir, Eau de Parfum)
Member Name: gaultier100
Advantages: Stunning packaging Disadvantages: Very heavy
Behind every perfume is an idea and behind this scent is a desire to 'reproduce everyone's idea of sex' (Westwood, 1998). However, at first sniff, this perfume is very overpowering due to the sandalwood and patchouli it contains. Once the intial aroma has faded, then come the flowery notes of rose, tobacco flower and marigold, blended with vanilla and cardamon. Although the scent itself does not appeal to me, what is most striking about this product is the container. It is a heavy glass bottle with a regal orb on top (Westwood's trademark) in gold and jewels, headed by a Maltese cross. Finally, it is surrounded by a ring of gold, quite like a planetary ring, to finish off the effect. I feel that this is a scent more suited to the older woman as it is too heavy for someone younger. It is ideal for a person who prefers to wear only one source of scent at a time, as this would ultimately clash with anything else being worn, like deodorant or hair fragrance. But as an overall package, it is awe-inspiring. Summary: |
