I bought a botte of this earlier this year after being attracted to the pretty bottle.
The perfume comes in a very pretty clear bottle, with a cute blue heart on a chain around the neck of the bottle, which can be removed and is the perfect length to be used as a charm bracelet. It is a very 'fairytale' looking bottle beautifully designed by Vivienne Westwood.
The scent is a lovely floral, musky and oriental fragrance. At first it smells very fruity, it is the first thing I can detect, then afterwards it has a lovely afterscent of a musky oriental scent like patchouli and sandelwool. Its quite a strong perfume and I like my fragrance to be delicate and subtle, so I cant use a lot of it otherwise I find it too overpowering, however this is great as it means I only need to use one spritz so the bottle lasts me aaages. I also find that the scent lasts a long time on me too, I can go most of the day with the aroma still on my skin before I have to reapply.
You can buy this perfume from most good perfume shops, as well as Boots and department stores such as House of Fraser. At the moment if you buy the 50ml bottle from House of Fraser then you get a free tarten pouch.
Overall I would definitely recommend this perfume to anyone that likes fruity musky scents, its a very playful scent that is strong and lasts all day, and to top it off comes in a beautiful bottle.
A perfume that I was given a couple of years ago is this Vivienne Westwood perfume, Naughty Alice. I was a bit unsure at the time when I was handed it as I haven't really ever been much of a Vivienne Westwood fan in clothing or anything really. However, being a gift, I couldn't not give it a try and so I said thanks and decided to try this out but I knew as soon as I sprayed it that this really wasn't me at all. I am going to give an unbiased review of this though as even though I don't appreciate a heavier scent I will still highlight my opinion.
I have to give credit where it is due and I do actually like the packaging on this perfume. It is quite a pretty little bottle but it is very misleading as it looks quite girly and delicate but the fragrance is not like that at all. It comes in a turquoise almost Tiffany coloured box which has a gold oval design and Naughty Alice in red lipstick like type on the front and Vivienne Westwoods logo. The bottle itself is short and clear glass where you can see the warm liquid inside and it has a gold chain around the neck of the bottle and a charm and it has a sphere lid which is nice.
The name of this perfume sounded a bit strange to me but I assumed with the name that this would be a heavy seductive scent but to me it really comes across as an older woman's kind of fragrance as it is overpowering and not the nicest. I find this too heavy and even though it tones down after the first spray it has a cheap smell to it and just seems to linger too long and I do get a slight musky whiff from it after having worn it for a couple of minutes but it just never seems to go down and it is a little bit too noticeable for me.
The perfume is made up of a base note of carnal violet which may give that sweet sort of musky note I keep getting every so often. There is then a heart note of ylang ylang and lastly a top note of black rose which to me seems to be just strange that there are only three notes making this very powerful scent. I have never seen such a minimal use of notes in a fragrance before but this heavily floral scent is made up like that. I'd think by seeing this make up of notes that this would be much more simple in scent.
The perfume really does need just a few sprays being so powerful and it will last all day as it is heavy and you really will notice you keep smelling it on you all day. Now, I like a perfume to be noticeable when on but not too noticeable that it starts to give me a bit of a headache from being that obvious. I like a little bit of subtlety with a scent and for this one it may be for someone who wants to be noticed and likes a really heavy scent that everyone can smell and that leaves a trail behind the wearer as they walk about.
I know I have said it before but really this isn't for me, it is not a young fragrance at all and is a bit too sultry and not as glamorous as I would have hoped for. This is ideal for you if you love a strong, bold, very noticeable perfume as this is exactly what this is. You could wear this mainly on night occasions as I do feel this really is a bit too much to be wearing in the day time but if this is the kind of thing you like then I'm sure you will love it but maybe I am just not confident enough for this statement scent.
You can buy this from Theperfume shop for £36.50 for the 30ml EDP and the 50ml EDP is £52.50 which isn't the cheapest but they are eau de parfum so this could be why.
The official Vivienne Westwood website is www.viviennewestwood.co.uk/ which has this fragrance on it.
For me, Naughty Alice by Vivienne Westwood taps into the current trend for all things vintage and glamour.
I'm ashamed to say that I was attracted to the perfume initially because of the fun name and the cheeky image of the vintage style girl. I love Vivienne Westwood for just being a bit more 'out there' than other designers, and whilst owning a piece of her clothing is pretty unobtainable for me, I can stretch to justify the perfume!
The bottle is cute, its not pretentious and looks like a perfume bottle should in my opinion - i.e understated elegance. It also has the added bonus of having a little charm around the neck of the bottle which you could also wear as a charm bracelet if you wanted!
But of course, how it smells is the most important thing. To me this is a nice strong elegant scent. It's not over powering but it's strong enough to make people notice when you waft past them. It has top notes of black rose with base notes of violet and heart notes of Ylang Ylang. I'm not really a floral perfume type of a girl, but this has just enough balance to be right.
It's not the cheapest perfume out there, but it's by no means the most expensive and with a long lasting scent I think that it's well worth the money - but since I've never used up a bottle of perfume as quickly as I did this one, I'm perhaps a little biased.
I love Vivienne Westwood as she is such a daring, dynamic and talented woman so I was over the moon when a friend of mine gave me a small (30 ml) bottle of Naughty Alice. She informed me that she didn't like the fragrance and thought it was more 'me' - not sure if she thinks I am naughty or what - but I'm so glad she gave it to me.
VW being VW I was not sure what to expect from this fragrance because she is so famous for being outrageous on many occasions but I have to say this perfume is lovely and quite special.
The bottle is as shown in the Dooyoo picture, comes boxed, has an oversized stopper and looks expensive. It comes in 30 ml, 50 ml and 75ml and the smaller bottle sells for approximately £35 - £40. Unfortunately there is no eau de toilette (yet) - maybe because this Alice was not introduced until late last year.
The blue dangly bit shown in the picture is actually a small bracelet with an enamelled heart - my friend kept this so I cannot tell you of the quality or longevity - nice touch though Vivienne!
If you like the smell of Chanel's Beige or Kate Moss's Summer or even the smell of baby talc then I am sure you would like this perfume. When you first smell it the perfume does not 'hit you in the face' and there is no sharp intense, perfume counter smell. Rather it is one which you can smell in your own time without the fragrance hitting the back of the throat! as soon as the nostrils make contact.
The top note is rose
The middle notes are ylang-ylang and violet
The base note is musk
The overall smell reminds me of a vanilla-smelling baby powder and if anyone else is wearing it I just want to get nearer to them! I am not sure why it is named Naughty Alice - I would have called it Come Closer Alice.
I would recommend having a whiff of this if you see a sample in any of the larger department stores as it really is a difficult perfume to describe apart from the fact it is floriental as opposed to floral or oriental.
I would say this is great for any age and could be worn as either a daytime or evening fragrance. If you are keen on this it can be layered up with the Alice body lotion for a longer-lasting fragrance.
I love it because it is very different - just like Vivienne Westwood.
I am a huge Vivienne Westwood fan and until Christmas, Viv's Boudoir was the only perfume for me. However, my husband saw 'Naughty Alice' and thought two gifts in one ... a bottle of perfume with a bracelet (which is wrapped around the neck of the bottle) at a great price.
Naughty Alice comes in a light blue box with an ornate gold mirror featured on the front as if it were a 'looking glass' and simple gold lettering. The heavy glass perfume bottle is a lovely shape, if you have Boudoir then this bottle is slightly narrower and it features a large gold stopper with the Westwood Orb printed on top rather than a large Orb stopper. However, regardless of what size bottle of Naughty Alice you purchase they all come with a free, gold bracelet around the neck of the bottle. The bracelet features a heart shaped charm which is the same colour as the box with a gold orb printed on the front and Vivienne Westwood Fragrance printed on the reverse. The bracelet is similar to the charm bracelet available to purchase from Vivienne Westwood direct so it's a great bonus getting a Vivienne Westwood charm bracelet with to a bottle of perfume even if it does have Vivienne Westwood Fragrance printed on the reverse.
The perfume is available in a variety of stores, both online and on the High Street including House of Fraser, Debenhams, Selfridges and The Perfume Shop and it's available from Vivienne Westwood direct. The perfume is available in 3 sizes, 30ml, 50ml and 75ml and depending on where you shop the price starts from thirty pounds upwards which is a great price considering it comes with a bracelet. As with most perfumes, you are also able to purchase Naughty Alice body lotion and shower gel individually or in a gift set and the layering of the scent makes it last longer.
Naughty Alice is described as a femine, floriental (a combination of floral and oriental) fragrance with a dash of sophistication. While the scent itself is made up of hot pink pepper, violet, ylang ylang and black rose. As with most perfumes, the scent changes as the day wears on. Initially upon application of the perfume I am really aware of the violet and ylang ylang musky smell; however, as the day wears on the scent becomes much lighter and quite powdery which is not too disimilar to a light, floral talc type smell. However, don't let the floral talc type smell put you off as by this point in the day it's quite subtle but very feminine.
Although this perfume is called 'Naughty Alice' it's not quite naughty or heavy enough for my liking, and although it always attracts compliments it doesn't evoke the 'feeling' I get whilst wearing Boudoir. I would recommend this perfume for all ages, I took a risk buying it for my mum for Christmas but she really likes the oriental floral smell and I think it probably makes her feel ten years younger. All in all a great perfume suitable for everyday and evening use with the added bonus of a free Vivienne Westwood bracelet.
I'm not normally a fan of Viv. Westwood perfumes but the huge amount of advertising in store for this perfume convinced me to try it out. I really liked the smell which I would describe as vintage, floral and light. My mum thought it smelt like talc. I can see where she's coming from as in it's got a certain powdery quality. Although the scent is lovely, it doesn't seem to last very long so I find myself having to apply more throughout the day. I only got the smallest bottle, and although the larger you buy the better value you get, there isn't a huge amount of difference and I often find that with big bottles, you can't use it fast enough and it ends up going stale.
All the bottles come with a free bracelet, which is a lovely colour and looks really pretty, although it is a big heavy to wear every day, and i've noticed the gold colour starting to wear off the chain. I had to shorted the chain as well, but this was easily managed with a pair of pliers and wire cutters.
This is certainly a fragrance I think i'd wear more in the winter as I generally prefer something a bit more fruity in the summer and this might be a little musky, but I really like it, and I hope they carry on making it!
I have the earrings, the purse, the bracelets the lot! I love Vivienne Westwood and this is no exception. I was given this perfume by my friend for Christmas and I am over the moon with it. If you are a girl that likes Armani code, flora by Gucci, daisy by marc Jacobs then this city chic perfume is the one for you! I found the other perfumes were for older women and were abit too strong and musky but this is playful fun and suitable as an everyday perfume as well as for special occasions! I love the bracelet that it comes with as it goes great with my collection of jewellery. The bracelet does not look cheap so you could even pass it off as a genuine! The only down side is that the bracelet does say "perfume" but that is hardly anything to complain about! This would be a great gift for a young girl who loves floriental perfume!
As an avid fan of Vivienne Westwood I found she had released a new perfume in her collection and loved the name and appearance of Naughty Alice but soon found it was only available in larger department stores such as Debenhams or via online retailers, high street stores such as Boots are not currently stocking it.
Naughty Alice comes in a light blue box with gold lettering and is very simple yet pretty, not the normal extravagance of Westwoods creations. The glass bottle is a beautiful shape with a large gold coloured top and a unique modern font is printed on the bottle featuring the name and Westwoods logo. A delicate bracelet embellishes the neck of the bottle which is removable and can be worn, the bracelet is gold coloured with a small blue coloured love heart which features Westwoods signature planet and cross logo.
The perfume is available from specialist perfume shops such as The Perfume Shop and larger department stores such as Debenhams as well as many retailers online. It is is available in 30,50 and 75ml bottles of eau de parfum...eau de toilette is not available. The 30ml bottle is available starting at £29.99 although I had to search many websites to find a price this low, the 50ml retails for as low as £41.00 and the 75ml for £50.95. Online the cheapest retailer seems to be Fragrance Direct (www.fragrancedirect.co.uk). Gift sets with body lotion, shower gel and 30ml bottles are available from Westwoods own website for £50.
Naughty Alice combines black rose, carnal violet and ylang ylang to give a floral scent which lasts a wonderfully long time. The scent seems to change, going from a deep musky, powdery smell to a much lighter and beautiful floral smell which has personally attracted many compliments. It smells perfect to be a scent you would wear during the day on a regular basis but also could be that special scent you only wear for nights out or evening wear.
Perhaps I wouldn't say this was a naughty or mischevious smell like its name suggests but it is very unique and does attract attention which emcompasses the work of Westwood herself and her own style. I currently wear this perfume for evening wear as I think it is still too expensive, as a newly released product, to wear daily and thus when the price drops after a while I will most probably make it my daily scent. Westwood still fails to let me down with this unique and wonderful product.
Vivienne Westwood is one of my favourite designer..
Naughty Alice debut in October 2010 and was inspired the warm and sexy fragrance for modern women by perfumer Bruno Jovanovic. The composition in the bottle include black rose, musk , violet and ylang-ylang. It is available as 75, 50 and 30 ml EDP.
In my humble opinion, Naughty Alice has a vintage and modern aroma, very typical to all Vivienne Westwood's creation.
Naughty Alice starts like a pure powdery smell. After a few minutes, it is quite similar to Tumulte (without its sharp and patchouli tones). In the end there is a tinge of vanilla and floral. To me, being as fresh and soft as it is, this sweet scent is wonderful for autumn and winter. It paints a pretty and quite interesting picture to those who could detect it. It does remind me a lot of the smell of a very very sweet young girl.
And the bottle is so fabulous! I love it!
Overall, I fancy this perfume :) Well done, Vivienne Westwood!
I always thought of Vivian Westwood Perfumes being more for older people and thought that the Perfumes would be heavy smelling and for some reason I thought all her Perfumes would smell like Lily of the Valley. Not really sure why thought.
I got a bottle of this as a present. Due to the price of this brand of Perfumes I couldn't see me going out and buying it just in case I didn't like it and would find it a huge waste of money.
After looking online I see that the 30ml bottle of this costs around £34 and the 50ml bottle costs around £48. Pretty expensive to me!
The box looks alright for this. The box is a light green colour and the lettering is gold. It looks a bit antique like and I wouldn't say it looks cheap, but I would have expected this to look more expensive and fancy from the outside. The bottle is ok as well. It looks quite ornamental. It is a clear glass bottle with the lettering quite large in the middle of the bottle. The lid for this is quite a large ball shape and is a matted gold colour. This also has a gold coloured chain around the neck of the bottle with a little tag on the end of the chain as well. This dresses the bottle up a bit, but I think the gold colouring looks a bit tarnished.
So how does this smell? The blurb online doesn't give much away about this. All it says is "Naughty, chic femininity at play, in a magical universe. Cheeky & rebellious, believing that rules are made to be broken." So what does it smell like? THe notes that are in here are Black Rose, Carnal Violet and Ylang Ylang. It is noted that this is a Floral scent which I would agree with, but it is a pretty heavy Floral. I think this is due to the Ylang Ylang which is the heavier part of this, but it all goes together well, and makes a nice enough perfume.
I can't fault this on lastability of this. Even just 1 squirt of this gives a strong and long lasting scent, and I can still smell this later at night after spraying early in the morning. At least this way then the bottle lasts a good lenght of time.
A nice Perfume but I wouldn't buy this for myself. I just can't justify the price of this, but if you've got cash to splash then I would recommend this.
I was given a sample of Naughty Alice Eau de Parfum, the latest fragrance in the Vivienne Westwood arsenal in a London department store during my last weekend's visit.
Just like Anglomania, one of its predecessors, Naughty Alice comes in a heavy and smooth glass bottle without the trademark orb present on other Westwood fragrance line such as the Boudoir series or Libertine. This already sent a signal that the fragrance may be less luxurious or aimet at a younger audience. Having a curvy top half, a lid in the form of a ball and a pendant attached to its neck, the beige or golden bottle is also less 'serious'-looking just like the packaging, a cheerful duo of light turquoise blue and gold.
Top notes: rose
The fragrance starts out with a fresh and slightly acetone-laden burst of rose that's a bit harsh but quite sweet in the first few minutes until violet joins in and gives the accord a powdery note as well as depth. The overall feel is joyful, sweet and powdery and with something 'different' going on as in not overly predictable or boring like many mainstream releases. In the next 15 minutes that something 'different' turned into a retro vibe and an even more powdery and pronouned sweet and velvety violet sprinkled with rose.
Middle notes: violet, ylang-ylang
I like the heart the best, it was soft and feminine, like a woman's skin scented with dusting powder and it reminded me of a largely tamed version of Vivienne Westwood's underrated and assertive masterpiece, Anglomania buried deep down somewhere. I didn't detect the ylang-ylang here, it may have given even more powderiness to the composition. For me, Naughty Alice was all about gentle and soft sweet rose, violet and very good quality dusting powder. The scent had medium projection and a decetable sillage for 4 - 5 hours which I found decent given this is a new release and even eau de parfums tend to be on the poor side.
A clean, powdery and floral musk that seeped through from the dry-down actually gave it a bit of a sensual feel, as sensual as fabric conditioner can give you but hey this is how modern musk is used now and associated with laundry-clean clothes. I would never call this fragrance sexy though, it's too innocent for that. From the use of the tame musk I could see how Naughty Alice and Anglomania were related but also, that they were only distant cousins.
Base notes: musk
The half-musky, half-floral composition gradually mixed with a light layer of non-foody, soft and powdery vanilla the way clean-powdery white florals do, and created a clean, modern but at the same time creamy accord reminiscent of many a floral oriental fragrances of today, not unlike my recent test, Lolita Lempicka Coral Flower. The drydown stayed very close to the skin and lasted for another 4 - 5 hours.
Naughty Alice ended as a light, fluffy and creamy white floral vanilla scent on a baby-powder rose and violet of a few well-blended notes that felt increasingly linear from the middle onwards. I found it pleasant and easy to wear and my family liked it too, though frankly if I was given this fragrance as a gift I would get bored with it pretty quickly. It does have a tiny bit of retro and 'boudoir' feel to it but that's only due to the same accord used in Westwood's punchier numbers, Boudoir and Anglomania.
So sad that all the big, bold, daring, sexy and avant-garde Vivienne Westwood scents like Anglomania and Boudoir are being discontinued or pushed back in favour of plain, no-brainer versions such as Naughty Alice. Vivienne Westwood is reputed for her unique and extravagant way self-expression be it fashion or fragrance and I missed her powerful style here. I liked to be awed and provoked sometimes and not just have another nice but unoriginal and bland composition shoved down my throat.
This new fragrance actually carries a lot of Anglomania DNA in it but in a diluted and softened form that's been totally stripped off the overt sexiness and the provocative leather note which gives that naughty aspect to Anglomania. Naughty Alice is the innocent, sweet girlfriend that comes to play from next door, she's still a child, just like this fragrance, somehow I imagine it more on teenage girls or young women in their 20s rather than on more mature women.
The fluff, girly and pretty image might suit the Lolita Lempicka brand, I expected something more original from a leading British designer who revolutionized fashion by bringing punk and new wave clothing style into mainstream.
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
The fragrance is widely available from department stores and online starting from £49.59 / 50ml Eau de Parfum or £60.10 / 75ml Eau de Parfum though at full price it being a new release.
Thanks for reading.
