      Good value

~ Another fragrance classic from Woods of Windsor~

When wanting to review a number of the EDTs from the range of fragrances produced by Woods of Windsor that I have experience of, such as the very wearable Lavender EDT, they were not listed here on Dooyoo which I found rather surprising. After all the range of fragrances including the Lavender one have been on sale for a good number of years and can be found not only in the companys flagship Windsor store, but in such iconic stores as Liberty and Harrods too. As I feel that the natural oils used in fragrances such as the Woods of Windsor Lavender EDT gives off a very light and natural yet long lasting fragrance, I felt they were more than worthy of reviewing here. Whilst many may consider such fragrance to be dated and out of touch with modern trends I feel that with their revamped look they ought most certainly to appeal to a wider range of fragrance buyers than ever before.

This classic style english Lavender fragrance is one that I have worn over a good number of years and returned to as and when the mood suits and I feel that the fresh green lavender scented fragrance is one that is lovely to wear as a day time scent that can be worn in either casual or more formal situations. One thing that I really like about the fragrance is the fact that the Woods of Windsor Lavender fragrance is based upon original fragrance mixing notes which were uncovered during renovations at the Windsor store. The Woods of Windsor Lavender fragrance has been made following these historic recipes which required the use of only the most natural traditional flowers and ingredients, which I feel makes the fragrance seem even more special.

~The main elements of the Lavender EDT~

Woods of Windsor say that their Lavender fragrance is a 'truly traditional english Woods of Windsor scent' and as english lavender has been used over time to create a range of fresh fragrances that has been tinkered with by many a fragrance producer, I feel its rather nice to be able to buy and wear a fragrance such as this that harks back to the use of more natural ingredients and allows the main ingredient to shine through. Within this lovely english spring and summer scent the fresh and sharp green notes given off by a plethora of lavender flowers have been blended with other ingredients to enhance not strangle the lavender used as the theme of the fragrance and in my opinion I feel the fragrance works really well as a day wear scent.

The tangy yet green herbaceous top notes ~ Mandarin and eucalyptus

The heart of the fragrance ~ None other than fresh green lavender of course

The strength giving base notes ~ Neroli, chamomile, patchouli and musk

~Mauve madness, purple passion or lovely lavender?~

Within the Woods of Windsor Lavender fragrance blend of course the main thing that shines through each stage of the fragrance ought to be lavender and having worn the fragrance over a good length of time I am able to say that I feel the lavender used always manages to work its magic in this fragrance. The surprising use of eucalyptus really adds to the over all green tone that the fragrance gives off and adds an almost herbaceous feel to the opening tang of the mandarin oil that is further enhanced by chamomile a litter later on. Once the fragrance begins to dry down on the skin the lavender in this has a good degree of initial sharpness to it that I rather like. I feel this makes the fragrance feel fresh and alive for longer and makes it perfect for wear on warmer days when a fresh long lasting scent such as this is more appealing and refreshing.

The use of ingredients such as patchouli, soft musk and chamomile within the fragrance enhance what could have been a very basic lavender scent and help to create a deeper more aromatic feeling fragrance that has a good amount of longevity when on the skin. The use of natural oils within the fragrance allows for a more natural blend and means that the feel of the fragrance is not in any way synthetic. I have worn the fragrance as a stand alone scent and found it to be long lasting, with it being able to sit on the skin for a good number of hours and although it does soften and change a little over time the basic feel of the fragrance remains true. As such I feel the fragrance is one that I would not hesitate to buy again as I have found it easy to wear with plenty to offer.

      ~Price and fragrance layering options~

The price of the fragrance is £15.95 and for that you get a large sized 100ml bottle of fragrance that will last a good length of time. I feel that at just under £16 the fragrance is very good value for the generous amount of product that you get within each bottle. In the past I was able used to buy Woods of Windsor products from a factory shop that discounted the fragrance and its complimentary range of products by up to 30% which I always felt was a very generous discount, although even at full price I feel you do get plenty for your pennies.

Within the range of products there are a number of options that I have used that will allow the Woods of Windsor Lavender fragrance to be layered and further enhanced. Among the offerings are a matching bath/ shower gel @ £8.25 for 250mls, a lightly moisturising body lotion @ £8.50 for 250mls, a lavender scented body dusting powder @ £8.50 for 100g, a conditioning hand and nail cream @ £7.25 for 125mls, as well as a set of 3 x 100g scented soaps at a price of £9.50. The fragrance does work well as a stand alone option, although for those times when you want to indulge a little more its nice to have one or two items that match it.

      ~Product presentation and rating~

The Woods of Windsor Lavender fragrance used to be presented in a rather flowery way which gave the fragrance rather a dated look. Thankfully this has been updated to give the fragrance a wider appeal and a new sleek and understated bottle has been created to match the minimal and modern look that the entire range seems to now have. Each fragrance type has been given its own signature background colour that is in keeping with the fragrance and in this case a vivid purple box displaying a few choice lavender flowers has been created to encase the new clear glass fragrance bottle within.

I feel the new look will appeal to younger fragrance buyers although the actual fragrance istelf may be a little too grown up for the very young fragrance wearer, as it is very far from the sweet and girly styles that abound for the teenage scent buying market. The fragrance bottle has a simple to operate spray applicator which is protected by a silver toned lid that stays on well and is easy to take off when wanting to spritz on a little of the fragrance. Over all I feel the new look is both modern and appealing and as the fragrance within the box/ bottle is also rather pleasing, I feel it ought to get a 4 star product rating.
