I love to buy different fragrances as I don't tend to stick to the same one as I have lots of favourites when it comes to perfume. I like vanilla, musk, fruity scents and some flowery scents and as I collect perfume bottles my tastes vary from day to day wearing of different scents to the collectability of the bottle. I also like the scent of roses and although this bottle is just a plain one and not really the kind I would buy for my collection I do like the blend of Woods of Windsor: True Rose, Eau de Toilette. I paid £16 for a 100ml spray bottle from Debenhams which in my opinion is not a bad price to pay for a perfume as they can vary in price depending on designer label to the shape of the bottle, so I'm happy to pay what I did. The True rose collection from Woods of Windsor is all made with essentail oils and is a natural spray, the blend is of grren violet leaves, damask rose petals and rose otto and as any rose grower will tell you these are such a nice fragrant rose and this echo's in the blend of the eau de toilette. You only need a little spray of the eau de toilette on your wrist or neck for it to be detected all day as you go about your business, it has a fresh crisp scent of roses and lingers for hours but not in a powerful way as it is a sublte and delicate blend, but is economical and the bottle lasts as you don't need lots for it to be noticed when your wearing it. I like to wear this during the day as it is a nice fresh flowery scent, you can use it for evenings out or any occasion and it makes a nice present if your wondering what to buy that special lady in your life without breaking the bank. I'm happy to recommend this to you if you like the scent of roses.
~Everything is coming up True Roses~ ***************************** The Woods of Windsor fragrance range is one that I have plenty of experience of as I was able to purchase products from the range with a very attractive 30% discount from a Woods of Windsor outlet store at a small shopping village. This enabled me to try a good number of the products from the range including the Woods of Windsor True Rose EDT which I rather like. When wanting to review the fragrance it was not listed as a product here so a product suggestion was made and as the fragrance has now been listed I am able to share my thoughts about it with you. For those who like rose scented fragrances I feel this type of pretty soft pink and rosy floral blend would be something that would suit. With many mainly rose scented fragrances at times coming across as being too synthetic and over processed I must admit that I didn't expect all that much from this particular fragrance when I first began to use it. Surprisingly I found that the scent given off by the Woods of Windsor True Rose EDT was very appealing with a nice rosy tone to it that enjoyed and at the bargain price the fragrance sells for I feel it offers very good value for a day wear fragrance. ~The essential ingredients~ ********************* Within the range of Woods of Windsor fragrances a number of 'main flowers' are used as themes for the mix of ingredients used to make up an individual perfume and in this case the rose is the centre of the fragrance blend. I like the way the company have used natural oils within the fragrance, as they do give off a fresh and easy to wear feel that is never too over powering, or too cloying on the skin. Within the True Rose fragrance there are a number of elements which give a warmer rose scent than some other rose based fragrances I have tried and I feel that the use of lovely damask roses has been a success in this fragrance. The inviting top notes ~ Sweetly spiced lychee and green leaves for a fresh opening kick The enveloping heart notes ~ Damask rose, violet and jasmine combine in a pretty floral cocktail The strength giving base notes ~ Warm musk, woods and iris. ~How the fragrance works~ ********************** Woods of Windsor say that they use only the 'finest and most pure natural oils' within their range of fragrances and I feel this gives them an edge over many single flower themed products. Having worn a rather sweet and pretty rosy scented fragrance from the PeckSniffs range for some time recently and then gone back to compare the Woods of Windsor True Rose to that, I feel that the Woods of Windsor fragrance does work just as well. The True Rose fragrance imparts a very pleasing fresh rose scent when it is on the skin, although it differs somewhat from the other fragrance, the over all effect is rather nice and it does have a little more depth to it than some other rose scented fragrance I have tried. The use of lychee and green leaves in the opening moments of the fragrance allow for a fresh yet lightly sweet and spiced entree to the main event which is a full on rose and floral cocktail bursting with sweet smelling flowers. The use of rose otto in the fragrance gives a more finely tuned warm and honeyed rosy tone that mixes in nicely with the violet and jasmine in this fragrance. I feel the mix of ingredients makes this a good choice for wear on spring and summer days, as I find that the sweetness of the flowers is slightly enhanced when worn on warmer days. As with many fragrances musk is used here to extend the life of the fragrance on the skin and is combined with woody elements to give a little more depth to the scent imparted. The over all feel of the fragrance is of a warm floral slightly honeyed blend as it dries down on the skin which has a more musky feel as it softens over a number of hours when in wear. I feel the fragrance has a pretty feel that is long lasting and easy to wear and at no time does it feel overly sweetened or headache inducing. This makes it a good choice for those who like rose themed fragrances yet don't want an over sweet or sickly scent. ~Price, presentation, rating~ ********************** As with the other fragrances from the Woods of Windsor range the True Rose fragrance bottle and box have had a recently updated look that I feel makes the fragrance more appealing to a wider range of fragrance buyers. The older style packs were rather dated looking, being covered in floral themes and although I didn't mind the look too much this newer more modern and sleek design does suit the fragrance more. The easy to use fragrance bottle is made from a simple clear glass with a slim base and widened shoulders and has a silver toned lid that sits well on top of the bottle. The box has a rose influenced look that is modern and simple yet conveys what is within the bottle with ease. The deep purple pink colour used has a strong tone to it that makes for a more grown up feel and this matches in well with the rest of the products from the range. The price of the True Rose fragrance is rather good, coming in at £15.95 for a 100ml bottle which should last some time when in use. The fragrance can be layered using other True Rose products if wanted, with items such as body lotions and body washes costing just over £8 for 250mls. The body dusting powders from the range are all rather nice and cost £8.50 for 100g of product, these are lovely with their easy to use body puffs that come in a neatly presented cardboard based container and they last a long time even with daily usage. In terms of rating the True Rose fragrance I feel that it has a nice feel about it with a good deal of longevity and as such I feel it ought to get a 4 star product rating. The True Rose fragrance is sold in a number of stores both online and on the high street so it should be easy enough to sample prior to purchase if you feel it may be something that will suit your tastes.
