Worth Je Reviens Eau de Toilette
Advantages: fairly cheap. long lasting scent for an EDT, nice floral scent
Disadvantages: scent is very subtle, bottle not that pretty
Je Reviens is a scent I have worn for a number of years. I first came across it when I was very young, probably about 9 or 10 years old. My mum got a tiny little sample vial of it on a magazine at the time, and she let me have it. I thought I was so sophisticated putting on this scent, though as I have grown older, I have realised there are better scents available out there, and this is just a fairly basic one.
Over the years I have tried the fragrance as Eau de toilette and body spray. I have never indulged in the perfume. The current bottle I have is a few years old, and I believe I might have bought it for myself in a gift set in my Avon rep's catalogue in a fit of nostalgia. I don't wear perfume every day, but occasionally I will fancy wearing some, and this to me is a fragrance that is an every day one.
Being an Eau de toilette, the fragrance is really quite delicate. I find that quite a lot squirts out of the bottle, but this doesn't matter as the scent is so hard to detect really that the amount you put on kind of doesn't matter. It also helps that its around £8 for 50ml, so I don't feel I need to use it sparingly to get my money's worth out of it.
The bottle is not the one shown in the picture, that is for the perfume. My bottle is a tall rounded cuboid shape. The glass is clear. The lid is a pale green colour with a gold line around the bottom of the lid, and a raised 'W' on the lid to represent Worth, the company who make this. The fragrance is a pretty insipid looking liquid in the bottle. Looking at it, it looks about the same price as you pay for it.
I mentioned that the spray on my bottle is not great. It certainly doesn't ooze sophistication and it's a fairly cheap looking package compared to other brands that are round this price mark or slightly more expensive.
I guess part of why I like this is it does just remind me of being a kid, and it is a comforting floral smell. The scent is something that mainly I can detect when I am wearing it. I get wafts of it when I am busy and moving my arms around, or when I put my coat on and the collar brushes against my neck. My son asked if I was wearing it, and I had to put my wrist fairly close to his nose for him to notice it. Although it is really subtle though, the staying power is quite good. I put some on this morning about 12 hours ago knowing I was going to review it this evening, and it is still there and I am able to detect it at a similar level to hours ago.
The scent to me appeals because it stays pretty constant during the time that I am wearing it. Some scents start off too strong for me, and then settle down after a couple of hours into something more manageable to my nose. This one is great as straightaway after application I can eat and get on without this overpowering me. This time of year in particular, I find a lot of body sprays really aggravate me because I am suffering with hayfever and my nasal passages are so sensitive that as soon as the scent hits them I set off sneezing violently. This is fine and doesn't affect me at all.
The scent is described as being softly floral.
Top notes are: Jasmine, orange blossom, aldehydes, ylang ylang.
Middle notes are: narcissus, jonquil, violet.
Base notes are: sandalwood, vetiver, musk.
To me, I don't think I really do pick up the base layers, this is entirely floral to me, and it is definitely a perfume from an older time, and perhaps more suited to older women than younger ladies. I would never wear this for going anywhere special, but for schlepping round doing my chores and running the kids about, I like the little touch of femininity and as it really is just for me, I don't care if it is not that exciting.
I can't see people rushing out to buy this one as they adore the scent, but for me 'Je Reviens' (or I return, if you translate the french name) will always be comforting and nostalgic.
Summary: You aren't going to come across many who wear this one, but it is ok.
