I have had my eye on these Yardley fragrances for a while and there were a few I fancied trying so I ordered a few of them online including a 50ml bottle of Geranium eau de toilette. ~ Bottle ~ The bottles for these Yardley fragrances are all the same shape. They are tall rectangular bottles, which curve inwards slightly in the middle. A gold coloured cylindrical lid sits over the spray dispense button and there is a small pink rectangular label in the middle of the front of the bottle with 'Yardley' in white lettering and 'Geranium Eau de Toilette Vaporisateur' underneath. I like the bottle. It is fairly simple, but I like the way it curves inwards in the middle and I like its simplicity. ~ Price and availability ~ This eau de toilette is available in a 50ml bottle. It is available to buy online at www.amazon.co.uk for just £1.99 plus postage of £2.25. The recommended retail price is £9.99. Most of the other scents that Yardley have released in the collection are also available in 125ml bottles, but I have not seen this one in a 125ml bottle. ~ Scent ~ The fragrance has a very authentic scent of geraniums. The back of the box says of this fragrance, "An old time fragrance - Ever new. This beautiful fragrance captures the English aroma of fresh Geraniums as they blossom and hit the sunshine, with light notes of fresh green grass." The scent is like that of geraniums so it is a sharp floral fragrance, which some people may find too harsh for their tastes. The notes are simply listed as geraniums and freshly cut grass. I am usually easily offended by harsh scents, but I do quite like the smell of geraniums. I do find this fragrance very strong initially though and to be honest it reminds me of something you would smell on a woman in her 70's or 80's! It has a very old fashioned scent. I have used geranium scented products in the past that didn't smell old fashioned like this fragrance does. After about half an hour the scent has worn down a bit and it is a lot more subtle on my skin. It just leaves a light scent of geraniums on my skin and it doesn't smell as old fashioned as it did initially. The fragrance lasts for around 5 hours, which is better than some of the other Yardley fragrances in this range that I have tried. It is definitely a day time scent. I think this fragrance will appeal to more mature women as it is quite sharp and some younger women may find it a bit too harsh for their tastes. At first it smells very old fashioned and not very pleasant, but as it dies down the scent is a lot more subtle and it loses the horrible old fashioned harshness that it has when first sprayed. The fragrance does have a harsh floral scent all the way through to the end, but it is a pleasant more subtle scent once it has settled on your skin. ~ Conclusion ~ I like the scent of this fragrance once it has died down, but the old fashioned geranium scent that it opens with puts me off this fragrance. It has a very authentic scent of geraniums. It is strong, harsh and floral. The fragrance lasts around 5 hours on my skin, which isn't bad for an eau de toilette that is so inexpensive. I don't think I would recommend this fragrance or buy it again because of the initial old fashioned scent which is rather nasty when it is first sprayed.
