I have had my eye on a few of these Yardley fragrances for a while and Iris was towards the top of my list. I love the scent of irises.
~ Bottle ~
The bottles for these Yardley fragrances are all the same shape. They are tall rectangular bottles, which curve inwards slightly in the middle.
A gold coloured cylindrical lid sits over the spray release button and there is a small blue square label in the middle of the front of the bottle with 'Yardley' in white lettering. Below the blue square on a clear sticker is the word 'Iris' in small letters.
I like the bottle. It is fairly simple, but I like the way it curves inwards in the middle and I like its simplicity.

~ Scent ~
This fragrance is different to what I expected.
It has top notes of citruses and green leaves.
The heart notes are rose, violet, iris and lily-of-the-valley
The base note is vanilla.
I can detect the citrusy element and the combination of florals, which is pleasant, but it doesn't particularly remind me of irises.
The floral notes have a slight sharpness to them, but I don't find them offensive. The florals are fairly subtle.
The citrusy notes seem to dominate the fragrance. It reminds me of the mosquito repellent I have used in the past during holidays abroad. It isn't an unpleasant scent. I actually like it because it reminds me of holidays, but I did not expect a fragrance called, Iris to be such a citrusy fragrance.
The fragrance seems to wear off pretty quickly and after 3 hours the scent is virtually undetectable on my skin. All I can smell is a very light, sweet scent, perhaps the vanilla note. I can no longer detect any of the other notes and it is not even recognisable as a floral scent. By this point the fragrance is so subtle that I can't smell it without breathing in heavily with my wrist up close to my nose. The fragrance lasts no longer than 3 hours.
The longevity could be improved by wearing body lotion or Vaseline underneath the scent or spraying a few extra sprays onto your wrists or I find fragrances tend to last a lot longer on your clothing.
I don't think this fragrance is reminiscent of irises. I do really like the scent, even though it is not what I was expecting.
I think this fragrance would appeal to women of all ages.
I would only choose to wear this as a day time fragrance. It is one I would consider taking on holiday with me as well.
~ Conclusion ~
I have been very disappointed with the longevity of this fragrance, but it is not the most expensive fragrance and the bottle is small enough for me to carry around with me and reapply.
I really like the scent, but not because it smells like irises. I can't even detect the iris note individually. It is more of a citrusy scent to me.
The bottle design is nice and simple and I like the shape of it.
While I like this scent I'm not sure I could recommend it with such poor longevity. It lasts around 3 hours, which is not good at all, but I do really like the scent and I would consider buying it again if my bottle was to run out.
Yardley London's Iris fragrance is a fresh, clean, spicy, floral that has an intriguing combination of fresh green leaves and citrus notes, a heart of iris, muguet, violet and rose with a warm vanilla base.
