“ Brand: Yves Rocher / Type: Fragrance / Concentration: Eau de Toilette „
**Introduction and reason for purchase**
As most people who read my reviews will no doubt be aware I am a fan of the french beauty company Yves Rocher and they are my guilty pleasure. Because they are not the cheapest items out there I only tend to purchase from their company every few months - or when funds will allow - as there is normally a minimum spend before being stung for P&P charges so because of this I will have a mini blow out and stock up on my favourite items approximately times a year.
I am a big fan of their skin care range as their products seem to suit my skin, especially my face, but I am also passionate about perfumes and am always drawn to their wonderful selection of fragrances. I have been a loyal customer (their words not mine) for most of my adult life and have been buying from them since the age of 18 so it's safe to say I've tried and owned the majority of their fragrances over the years and look forward to receiving any samples within my order, which is almost always.
Sometimes I receive miniature versions of the product itself, whereas other times it may come in sachet form, but the majority of the time I receive a fragrance sample it is in a small bottle or vial. Having been sent some vials recently of new fragrances to be launched I was looking forward to testing them out and have since gone on to purchase the full size bottles with one featuring now in this review.
My review now will focus on my experience of wearing 'Apple Delight' EDT by Yves Rocher.
**What Yves Rocher have to say about this**
"..Enjoy the comfortable smell of delicious vanilla flavoured melting apples with this Eau de Toilette Apple Delight. It leaves and irresistable sweet veil on your skin.."
**Price, packaging & availability**
As with all Yves Rocher products they can be bought in a number of ways. I know I repeat myself in similar reviews so I shall keep it very brief.
To order this EDT or any other YR product you can do so by either going on to their website @www.yves-rocher.co.uk
or by phoning their customer care/ order line on 0870 049 22 22. Alternatively you can go into one of their stores to peruse and test the items yourself or if hunting something in particular I always find Ebay to be a good source for finding specific items.
Unknown at the time, but Apple Delight seems to be part of Yves Rocher's signature Christmas editions which are launched around late October/ early November each year and feature 'limited' editions. I say this word loosely as more often than not the same products (mainly EDT's) can still be purchased throughout the year, especially on their website, by simply typing the word Christmas into the site's search engine.
The packaging is quite standard and simplistic in appearance, and is in the style of other EDT's in the Les Plaisir Nature range which though there is no actual reference to this it is in the same style and design so I am presuming it to be linked to this collection. The bottle is small and cylindrical and is made from a thick and sturdy transparent glass. There is a small sticker on the front depicting the logo and an image of an apple on a brown background, apart from the matching brown plastic lid there is little else in the way of decoration. I've always favoured the Les Plaisir Nature EDT's in the past as they are 'cheap and cheerful' in a good way so I was really looking forward to using this.
The EDT is currently available in two sizes:
100ml spray priced at £9.50
20ml priced at £5
Also available in the Apple Delight collection is an abundance of items including:
Bath fizzing cubes
Bath and shower gel
For more information or prices though please refer to the website.
**My experience of using this EDT**
As I've mentioned before, several times in the past as well as in this review, I often get sent small samples of products to try especially if it is a new item that is due to be launched soon. This review focuses on my experience of using this EDT in both the vial format and recently in the full size spray bottle version though more so the vials.
I received this EDT sample along with 2 others in total which were all 'limited' editions according to Yves Rocher. The other two sample fragrances I received were Pineapple-Coconut (see separate review) and Mango & Passion Fruit (review in progress) both of which I went on to buying larger sized bottles so Yves Rocher certainly know what they are doing as far as I'm concerned anyway as I often fall soft and end up purchasing the full sized product on my next order.
On applying a small amount of this Apple Delight to my wrists and neck I found it to be mouthwatering beyond belief! I really could have actually drank this as it was so deliciously scented and I knew there and then I would be buying myself a bottle.
The first thing that struck me on applying this to my skin was the fact it seemed more vanilla tainted than apple - even though vanilla is mentioned in the make up of the EDT I just expected it to be more apple dominated though I certainly wasn't disappointed.
At first the EDT comes across as sweet and rather overpowering to say it simply is an EDT, and as much as I adored the initial scent I did worry about whether it would be too cloying and cause a sickly headache after a while, but I needn't have worried.
Once the dry down began I noticed that the sweetness of the vanilla started to fade and the apple scent became far more prominent and the fragrance changed becoming more sharper and crisper with a 'cleaner' feel to it. Bizarrely though once the scent had well and truly settled on to my skin after around 15 minutes or so I noticed that Apple Delight had changed again and became deeper slightly and more muskier which made the scent smell more like toffee apples.
I think it's safe to say that I adore this fragrance and have from the offset. I instantly found it to be addictive to wear in a deliciously enchanting way and couldn't wait to receive my bottle. Although the 100ml version is far more of an economical purchase at £9.50, I opted on this occasion to buy the smaller bottle of just 20ml at £5 as I thought it would be easier for carrying around in my bag.
I have found the sturdiness of the glass bottle to be break proof (so far) as it gets 'thrown' into my small over the body bag and clunks about against my other items whilst I am walking about so I can certainly vouch for it's durability.
I have worn this EDT now on around 6 or 7 occasions since receiving my larger bottle and I can honestly say I don't think I will ever tire of it. I adore how it transforms from sweet to crisp then musky and the fact it smells just like toffee apples after a while is just another plus for me.
Longevity wise this is just over average. I wont lie and says it lasts and lasts once applied because simply it doesn't but it does offer at least 3 to 4 hours worth of quite noticeable strength which for the price I paid I can't really complain. I've often found in the past that YR fragrances - particularly their more premium EDP's - can smell overpowering on application yet fade within a short period of time but with their EDT's they seem to last longer strangely.
I have worn this predominantly during the daytime as I find it an easy going 'fun' fragrance and feel it suits general daytime more than the evening. On one occasion I did wear it at night for a gathering at a friend's house and I found it to fade quicker (though that's probably just my imagination) and decided to resign it to being my signature daytime scent for a while.
I would highly, highly recommend this EDT as it's a really unique and distinctive scent that is perfect for general day to day wearing. It's not posh, expensive or designer but it smells beautiful and is cheap and cheerful to try especially if you like toffee apples!
This is a firm favourite already and I sincerely hope that the rest of the Apple Delight products smell this good as I will be stocking up as soon as I can.
Top marks for a top EDT.
