      Very helpful

A lovely festive fragrance that is perfect for this time of year

I recently received two beautiful fragrances by Yves Rocher as part of my birthday presents from my mum. They are part of the festive Fleur de Noel range and are entitled Orange & Chocolate, and Orange & Almond respectively. After my recent review of the Orange & Chocolate ( see separate review ), it's now time for my thoughts on it's sister scent which features Almond..

This is exclusive from Yves Rocher and can be ordered in many ways through their website, by phone, purchased directly from one of their stores or browsing Ebay ( where their products can often be found at discounted prices ). I received this a few weeks ago as a birthday present along with the chocolate fragrance and have been wearing both of these perfumes almost everyday.

The design of the bottle is identical to the chocolate one, in being that it is available in one size of 50ml and has the same stubby, cylindrical shape to it. The glass bottle is also transparent and the fragrance can clearly be seen, which in this case is a zesty orange in colour.

This currently costs £11 though availability may be limited as it is being marketed as a 'Christmas' fragrance.

      My experience~

I liked the sound of both of the Fruit de Noel perfumes and I am thoroughly enjoying wearing the Chocolate & Orange, though as mentioned in a previous review it is slightly on the heavy side. What I love about this particular perfume ( sorry Eau de toilette ) is the fact it smells just as *festive* but is far lighter and adjusts itself to my skin straight away - there is no 'settling' period of time with this it's a case of what you first encounter when you spray it on your skin is what you are left with, which I like.

On first spritzing this on to my wrist it's the orange that is the stronger note here, whereas at the risk of making comparisons to it's sister scent it is the other way around, as the orange barely gets a look in from the dominant chocolate. Because the orange is the more domineering note in this perfume you would be under the impression that this is very citrus based..but you would be wrong. The orange is more like a sweet clementine, and together with the almond the overall scent is far sweeter and lighter making it easier to wear.

I really like this and out of the two matching fragrances this wins for me. It is lighter, yet still smells wonderfully festive and evokes images of gingerbread men and Christmas cookies when worn. The almond is sweet and balances the zest of the orange perfectly, giving the overall scent a woody, warm and beautifully lingering scent.

This has less staying power than the chocolate one unfortunately, but that seems to be the only negative I can find. It does start to fade quicker but does still last about 2 or 3 hours before the need to top up. As the bottle is small and quite robust, it is the ideal size for popping into your bag for when you are out and about.

This is a beautiful, seasonal scent that is ideal for daytime wearing but I feel it's not strongest enough to carry through to the evening - though that is just my personal opinion as others may find it suits their skin better at night.
