'Y' Eau de Toilette

Y is one of the many perfumes from the range of Yves Saint Laurent. It comes in a plain white box with gold writing and a large Y to the front. The weight on the bottle I have, which is a vaporisateur is 100ml 3.3 fl oz. The bottle is square and the gold push down spray top is a fanned shape. It has a good solid look to it, and is finished off with gold writing to the front.


Created in 1964, Y was brought out to represent the haute couture of the house of Yves Saint Laurent. It's a classic fragrance, quite timeless really, and a suitable perfume for day or night I would say. It's light and green, with notes of jasmine. It also has a delicate smell of powdery roses, quite lovely, and Y is one of my very favourite perfumes. I find it a little similar to Rive Gauge, only much lighter. Y is quite a subtle scent , light and gracious.


I love French perfume, and I am quite choosy about the perfumes that I use, and I am particularly attracted to the Yves Saint Laurent range. They have such a good selection of perfumes for all tastes. The thing about YSL perfumes is the difference in the fragrances, the selection is quite varied from the ultra heavy opium to the flirty and delicious 'Baby Doll'.


I find this Eau de Toilette quite lasting, though not overly so. Being so light I do find myself re-applying it every so often. But it is gorgeous so I find I don't mind it's lack of staying power. I would say it is one of their lighter fragrances.


On applying Y always spay on my pulse points, such as the neck, wrists, even the ankles. As this is where the heat is , and as perfume rises, it's a good place to start. Y also make a complimentary body lotion which will give you a layered effect when used with the Y Eau de Toilette.


I think choosing the right perfume is really important. You want one that suits your personality, and also one that suits your mood. I think that's why most people have a selection; I know I do. For me Y is my perfect daytime perfume. Light and uplifting and very feminine.
