      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Really good, efficient and roomy under counter freezer

      This freezer was bought along with it's sister fridge when I moved to my new house 18 months ago. Beko wasn't a brand I was familiar with, but I was offered a good deal for the two items, I was advised they offered good efficency and a nosey in the drawers (!) told me this would fit the bill. As soon as he mentioned that it was frost-free, there was no other competition!

      Installation
      ~~~~~~~~
      The freezer can be installed with the door opening either way, and it appeared to be a simple operation should the need ever arise to change which way it opens. The front two feet of the freezer are fitted with plastic adjusting dials which you turn in either direction as required to get the freezer level and stable if the floor happens to be uneven (is it ever anything else?!) There is a generous amount of adjustment possible and they are really easy to turn, which proved to be a good thing in my case!.
      Top compartment
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      The top compartment has a drop-down door and is around 6 inches tall. At the very top of this compartment is a full-width plastic "tray" or shelf on which the ice cube tray sits. I find that tray pretty flimsy and it doesn't slide in and out on its plastic rails easily enough when the water is in the ice cube tray to do so without spilling. For this reason I only use that occasionally, if the ice cube tray won't fit inside the main compartment. It's the right size and handy for popping those filled ice cube bags though so it does get used for that. The compartment is quite roomy and good for items in boxes but it's not the most convenient because the door is sprung so you need to hold it open while you reach inside, it doesn't stay open on its own.

      Drawers
      ~~~~~~
      There are two drawers in the freezer, both a really great depth, 10 inches approximately. The middle drawer is the full front-to-back depth of the freezer, the bottom drawer is about half that size due to the mechanisms of the freezer being housed in that section of the unit. The drawers are nicely sturdy, clear plastic, each one has an integrated moulded plastic handle, and they slide in and out really easily. There is a brilliant capacity in this freezer, and it's easy to see what you have in there.
      Door
      ~~~~
      The door is quite thick, obviously seriously insulated to ensure good freezing performance. The door is plain white, with two moulded handles in the top to accommodate whichever way you want it to open and the word "BEKO" is in silver towards the top of the door. The door opens easily and closes tightly with a very secure seal.

      Control
      ~~~~~
      The control to adjust the freezer's setting is tiny - it's a dial hardly bigger than 1cm diameter. It's difficult to turn, but fortunately I found that once it was set, there was no real need to mess with it.
      Technical Bits
      ~~~~~~~~~~
      The total gross volume of this freezer is 3.1 cu. ft. (gross). Energy rating is A+, stating it uses 193kWh/year. Operating noise level is 43dB which in my experience is certainly quiet enough, there's no significant noises from this freezer. The frozen food compartment is 4-star rated. The other major attracting feature is that it is auto-defrost, a particular bonus on a freezer in my experience. This has worked perfectly, there hasn't been any frost build up whatsoever and obviously no need to defrost in 18 months. I did read somewhere that frost-free freezers still need switching off & defrosting from time to time to give a good clean down, which I can appreciate, but I'm really not that enthusiastic a cleaner!

      Summary
      ~~~~~~~
      There is more than enough capacity in this freezer for me, and being a great energy rating and auto-defrost makes this a really good purchase. I thought I paid around £200 if I remember correctly, but can only see it online on the co-operative electrical site now at £180! Grrrr!
