I purchased this freezer in 2002 when i first moved in with my husband. It was around £180 at the time, and suited our needs for freezing food very well. Ie. Freezing our leftovers now and again, storing the odd ready meal, and with a bit of space for a bottle of vodka or an emergency chill of a can or bottle.
Fast forward 8 years, and we now have 2 small children, and completely different needs. Although this freezer has been very reliable and never broken down, it no longer meets our needs, so we have sold it on.
This review is based on 8 years of use, and i have to say, it has been an impressive freezer for the price and its work house ability.
There are 3 sections to this freezer. The bottom 2 sections are pull pout drawers. The bottom one is a large clear plastic drawer like the salad drawer on a fridge. The middle drawer has less depth, but also full plastic. The top section has a drop down plastic front. As well as these drawers, there is also a tray at the top of the freezer that is deep enough to hold an ice cube tray, or a selection of childrens lollies and ice creams.
One thing i really like about this model is that is has quite a nice feature when you defrost it. On the back of the bottom drawer is a piece which detatches. You then have a small hole in the back of the drawer, and the plastic piece can be connected to the bottom of the freezer so that as the water forms, it drips into the drawer. This does work quite well, but i have found that if the freezer was heavily frosted, then the spout can get blocked with a chunk of ice and the water floods onto the floor. This is mainly when i try to quickly defrost it with a hair dryer.
Food stacks really well in all of the drawers as the sections are all nice shapes. No curved edges to stop you stacking things well. The other thing i now appreciate more since getting a new freezer, the drawers sit really well in the freezer. On my new one, if you pull the drawer to far it just falls off the runner it is sat on and it is then really hard to get it back on as it is full and really heavy. Whoever said you don't appreciate what you have till it is gone was indeed correct.
The only faults we have had with this have been down to us really. The front of the top section broke at the hinge section so we had to remove it. Then the middle drawer also cracked due to pulling it in the middle when it was heavy.
I have been really happy with this model. If we hadn't needed a bigger freezer to cope with our change in needs then i would have been happy to keep it. It is only because i like to buy and cook in bulk that we have struggled.
