      good fit for small kitchen

i read a few reviews before i bought this product, at the time i had a small budget and didnt have a lot of kitchen space so it was a perfect fit for my needs. i didnt think that it would be this small but was happy since it was sold at a reasonable price. i was mostly shocked at how small the freezer was, wow i dint even use the freezer as i could not fit in most of my groceries. looking beyond its size, i was pleased with how quiet it was when it was in use and was supprized at how powerfull the cooler was. i underestimated the manufacturer as i had not known its' brand before but was happy with to see that the fridge was energy effecient and of a good quality.when i moved into a bigger house i had to upgrade to a bigger fridge, as it is not a good fit for a big kitchen.

      Very helpful

I have yet to discover just how many tubs of ice cream I can store now.

In my kitchen, I have an old, under the worktop fridge, sporting a bijoux 2-star freezer compartment that can just about hold a bag of frozen peas and a small tub of ice cream. I have been waiting for old faithful to give up the ghost for a very long time, so that I could replace it with a more eco friendly fridge freezer, with a larger freezer capacity and a three or four star freezer rating; but oh no, on it goes, happily humming away, busily keeping my foodstuffs cool.

Time, I thought, to indulge and treat myself with one anyway. An added bonus would be the oodles of space to display my growing collection of colourful fridge magnets. I cannot resist them.

Since Currys abandoned our little city a few years ago, there are no local stores that sell fridges, so I went on line to see what was on offer and to compare sizes and prices. I was looking for a small fridge freezer, not one that had the capacity of the Dr.Who Tardis.

Whilst browsing, I came across a company called 'Appliances on line,' selling all manner of kitchenware, fridges, cookers and hobs. I was impressed with the variety of brands and sizes of fridge freezers for sale. Not only that, there were video demonstrations of each appliance, so I was able to view and compare several options before picking one in my price range and more importantly one of a suitable size. The model I eventually chose was the Lec T5039W priced at £207.

It is also worth mentioning that I was able to choose the date of delivery, from a selection of dates. They phoned at 7am on the day of delivery to give an approximate time of delivery and gave 5-minute updates online, not that it was necessary for me, because a few minutes later the driver phoned to tell me he would arrive in ten minutes time. Delivery was free, but if I had wanted them to take and dispose of my old fridge there would have been an extra charge of £9.99. I was not tempted to retire old faithful just yet so did not take them up on that offer.

      Dimensions and specifications:
      Height: 122cm
      Depth: 54cm
      Width: 50cm
      Weight: 40Kg

Fridge is on top of the freezer compartment.
      Energy rating: A+
Noise level is 40dB... a gentle hum to you and me. I have heard louder bees.
Freezer star rating: 4 which means frozen foodstuff last much longer than at a 2 star rating.
      Fridge capacity: 93 litres
      Freezer capacity: 46 litres.
The ambient room temp: 16 to 38 degrees C. This means that the appliance works efficiently within this temperature range and is not suitable for unheated outhouses, garages or garden sheds.
Frost free Fridge, which means it is an auto-defrost, unlike the freezer section which will periodically require defrosting.
2 glass shelves in the fridge, plus a salad drawer, called a salad crisper.
      3 freezer drawers.
      Reversible door.
Door mounted bottle storage, and shallower, door mounted egg or small item storage tray.
      Light in fridge compartment.
Ice cube tray and egg rack to hold 6 eggs.

It is claimed that the Annual Energy consumption will be around 193Kwh, (£2 per month) but that will vary with fuel tariffs and will also depend on how many times the appliance doors are opened and how full the compartments are kept.
The warranty for this model is for 1 year.

As can be seen from the dimensions, this fridge freezer is shorter and narrower than most other models, an ideal size for small kitchens, single people or couples. Still large enough to house an ice cream maker though. Even so, I would not think it very suitable for large families.
The temperature control dial is inside the fridge.

      My experience and opinion
Installation was simple. The fridge was place on a level floor allowing a 50mm clearance at the rear and sides and at least 300mm clearance on the top; then allowed to stand for 12 hours before plugging in and switching on. However, it was recommended that, it should be cleaned with a warm solution of bicarbonate of soda and thoroughly dried before use.

At first I was a little concerned that the ambient temperature in the room I intended keeping the fridge freezer, was often lower than the required temperature, for according to the 11-page user guide, if the temperature drops below the recommended room temperature, the fridge contents may freeze.

I purchased a room thermometer and fridge thermometer to monitor temperature of the room and inside the fridge compartment.
The room, while not in use, was below the recommended temperature, so I turned the dial down until the fridge remained between three and four degrees above freezing. This worked perfectly. I also checked it when working in the room with the heating on, fortunately the fridge remained at a constant temperature. The freezer temperature was in the region of minus twenty-three degrees centigrade.

In order to economise on fuel consumption, I filled any space not occupied in the freezer, with some polystyrene slabs I had saved from packaging.
