I chose the Lec U5511S freezer due to the size fitting well in the space under my work surface in the kitchen. ---The freezer-- I have the freezer as the silver model which for the price looks stylish and modern. Being at the budget end of the market I am extremely happy with the way it looks in my kitchen and I think the grrained metal effect gives a more refined look than I expected. The freezer measures 84.5cm in height x 55.3cm in width x 57.4cm deep. This is the perfect size to fit under my worksurface, which I assume is a standard worksurface height. The freezer has a capacity of 85 Litres. For me this is fine as I only tend to freeze meat and some vegetables however I would consider it a fairly small capacity for a family or household of more than two people. The Lec U5511S freezer has three draws which are made from clear plastic which is an advantage meaning that you can see what is inside the draws without removing everything to get to the bottom. The freezer feels sturdy and robust to use and I was suprised at how good the quality feels considering it was one fo the cheapest freezers in the shop. The Energy efficiency is rated A+ (Very good) and is endorsed by the Energy Saving Trust. The high energy efficiency means that it is very environmentally friendly and due to the lower energy use less expensive to run. Annual energy use is approximatley 175 Kwh which is very reasonable. The temperature is adjustable but this is not something I have used after the initial set up. The manufacturer states that in a power failure the freezer will maintain frozen food for 15 hours. This seems pretty impressive to me however I haven't had to use this freature so can't say if it is true. I haven't noticed any considerable noise being made by the compresor in the freezer. The specification says that the noise produced is less than 40dB (which as an engineer doesn't have much meaning as a dB rating should be in dBA or have distance referenced) however I can confirm that it is very quiet. ---Reliability--- I have experienced no issues with the LEC freezer over th year that I have owned it. It keeps things frozen well, freezes quickly and efficiently and has stood being turned off for a long period when I was working abroar with no problems. I am used to freezers in share houses needing regular defrosting but since buyng this for my own house I have not had to carry out a defrost (which I hate doing) at all. ---Price--- I paid rougly £180 for this freezer, although it was part of a bulk buy of appliances from currys so I did get a discount on the total price of everything for the kitchen. It's available online form 365electrical.com for £179.99. I think this price is very acceptable for a stylish freezer that works well, fits well and has had no issues so far. ----Summary--- A perfect budget freezer with no issues experienced.
