Advantages: Easy to use & clean
Disadvantages: Could do with a bigger capacity
For me, a deep fat fryer has to be
1. Easy to use
2. Easy to clean
3. Easy to store
4. Have a decent capacity
5. Not stink the house out!
The Breville DF30 ticks all of the boxes. I paid around £27.99 when it was on offer in a local supermarket when my last one had given up the ghost.
The fryer is silver in colour with a removable lid that you take off whilst cooking. The actual frying unit comes out therefore enabling the oil to be changed much more easily. The thermostat at the back hooks over the main unit with the element part sitting down into the oil. The basket has a folding in handle which makes storage much easier.
I think that this is a terrific little fryer. Chips tend to take about 3 - 5 minutes to cook, depending on the quanity and I can do home made chicken nuggets in less than 10 minutes. The adjustable thermostat allows for easy temperature control. The body of the fryer does get hot but not scalding hot and it is quite quick to cool down - I can put it back into the cupboard within about 10 minutes.
Heating up time is quite quick, about 4 minutes - the unit holds 2 x 1 1/2 litres of oil, although I do tend to be on the "frugal" side with the oil!
I would recommend this fryer to busy people, easy and quick to use.
Summary: Good little fryer, easy to use

- 27/05/09 Handy review here - well done. It could help buyers to know if the main body of the fryer is cool to the touch in use or does it remain dangerously hot? Also is it easy to wash down/any dishwasher safe parts?
