My boyfriend and I love chips so when we moved into our new house we bought the Lloytron mini deep fat fryer. We only use it a handful of times a month so we did not want to spend too much money on one or want one that was too big. We saw this model for £15.00 and could not resist it for the price! ==Price and availability== You can purchase this deep fat fryer from Amazon for around 15 pounds. You can have the model with a black trim or a white one to fit with your kitchen colour scheme. ==Description== The machine is tiny and has a 1l oil capacity which sounds small but it is perfect for one person or two people if you only want a small portion. It is extremely light so would be great for taking away in a caravan as it is very portable. The machine has basket inside with a removable handle and a thermostat dial on the front. The machine is set on little rubber feet to keep the machine from slipping and there is an LED light for the temperature and power. On the top, the lid has a safety catch to prevent children or adults going near the dangerous hot oil. The machine boasts 900W of power for its size, which is more than sufficient to heat up the oil in a reasonable time. ==My experiences== The main reason I like the machine is because of its price. It is so cheap and for the money it is really good value. It is robust and really good quality. The second reason I like the machine is because it is really economical on oil because it is so small! With a previous machine I had to heat up nearly 3 L of oil just for a small portion of onion rings or chips! Sometimes when I make chips, I need to fry them in two batches as on one occasion the machine leaked oil as I over filled the machine. There is an oil fill line which needs oil filling up to, but you cannot go cramming the machine with food as it will not cook properly or leak bubbling hot oil out, like it did to me. The temperature gauge on the front is interesting, as I cannot tell the difference between the different settings. It seems that the top setting cooks the food exactly the same as the some of the other settings. I find the machine really quick to heat up, which is surprising but with only having to heat a small amount of oil, it speeds the whole process along. I get quite a lot of use out of the deep fat fryer and enjoy making scampi, or battered goujons of fish (posh fish fingers.) When I cook larger items I usually don't use the handle of the basket and simply grab the food with tongs or a spoon. The basket is a little fiddley when attaching the handle sometimes. This way just makes it a bit quicker. ==Cleaning and maintenance== I do not find the machine easy to clean as there is not enough parts that come out. The main part of the fryer that holds the oil is tricky to clean as it does not come out. No bunging it in the dishwasher! It takes a bit of scrubbing to remove the oil and stop it from smelling greasy. ==Overall== Do not expect miracles from this machine and if you are cooking a lot of food, be prepared to split the food into batches as the machine is too small to cope with much. This is certainly not a failing though and I love the machine for its size. It is fast and simple to use. For the price, if you want a small economical machine that is just as powerful as its fryer cousins then look no further.
