Advantages: Easy to use, clean

Disadvantages: can't cook many chips and takes a while

Really clever item. Seems to be well made and is quite fun watching the chips go around! Not used it for other recipes yet but it seems to suggest that you can cook alsorts in it. It comes with a free sachet of special olive oil - to buy this type is very expensive and I think other olive oils would do just as good a job. The chips were nice, only problem is that for anymore than 2 people there aren't very many. 1kg doesn't seem to go very far but they are quite tasty! Takes quite a while too, similar to oven chips but obviously if you're used to a deep fat fryer the wait could come as a bit of a shock! People have complained about the timer but I seem to be able to hear it ok so I think it's down to personal preference. Admittedly it's still a bit pricey for what it is but if you regularly eat chips and want to be a bit more health conscious I'd give it a try!
