Hargreaves Lansdown was established in 1981 by Peter Hargreaves and Stephen Lansdown. In my opinion these are the best stockbrokers in the UK - bar none. The phone calls are always answered very quickly. The post I have always received has included prepaid envelopes. I have also found their website so easy to navigate. You can view the live prices of UK stock (with a slight delay) and you can manage your own portfolio online. I have nothing but praise for them.

They also offer a SIPP - which is a self invested pension plan. You can cash in many pensions and use the money to administer your own pension. There is lots of information on these types of pensions on their website. It also has lots of research from experienced brokers. For those who have shares in a particular company, you will receive emails (if you opt in) from the brokers giving you updates on the companies.

Another great extra is the facility to transfer money into your portfolio with debit cards and bank transfers.

The service I use is execution only. This basically means that you invest without any advice. You need to have done your own reserach first. This is why their prices can be kept to a minimum. Obviously if you invest unwisely this can prove costly but there are great rewards too.

I am glad registered with them. I'd never use any other company to look after my shares.
