Advantages: minimum mess, maximum juice
Disadvantages: Quite big
I think lemon juice is totally underrated. A squeeze of lemon (or lime) added to your glass of water gets your kidneys working and this in turn has an alkalizing effect on your body. Lemon juice is also very nourishing. Lemon juice can help to aid dehydration and is good for cleansing the liver. It can also be good for weight loss as it promotes better digestion and metabolism. It also flavours the water making it a little but more interesting. It is also a great addition to a salad with some olive oil.
In a bid to be more healthy, OH and I have started adding lemon or lime juice to most of the water that we drink at home. It is delicious to drink, but can be a pain to make. We used to just hand squeeze the lemon juice in. We always ended up with sticky hands, pips in the glass and never managed to get all of the juice out.
Enter the Amco Lemon Citrus Squeezer! The lemon squeezer is a bit like a tin opener in size, but works more like a garlic crusher. It is bright yellow (you can also get a green lime squeezer or an orange orange squeezer). It is made of cast metal, so is fairly sturdy and robust. It is quite a big device for the job that it does, but I wouldn't be without it now.
To use, all you need to do is cut your lemon in half, open the squeezer, place the lemon inside, hold it over your glass or another vessel, close the squeezer, and squeeze. Maximum juice is extracted through the small holes in the bottom into the glass and the pips are held in the squeezer. When all the juice is out, you just open the squeezer and pop the squashed lemon in the bin. It is so simple to use. The only problem I have had is when I have squeezed too hard and ended up with lemon juice in my eye when it has squirted out the side.
It is easy to clean but you do need to scrub clean and not just rinse.
Not the most exciting Christmas present I have brought for the OH, but one of the better used ones! I would definitely recommend to anyone who uses a lot of lemon juice. It works perfectly well on the limes too, and would be fine for smaller oranges. Five stars from me.
The Amco Lemon Citrus Squeezer is available from Amazon for £8.30 with free delivery.

Summary: An excellent way to maximise the juice without the mess
