Casio FX-83GT Plus Scientific Calculator: The calculator with go-faster stripes (981 words)
by - written on 18/10/10 (Very useful, 833 readings)
Rating:

Casio have had the school scientific calculator market pretty much sewn up for as long as I can remember. Back when I was doing my GCSEs - shortly after we'd stopped carving notches on mammoth tusks - I had one of the original fx-82 models, and variants of that trusty machine served me well for the rest of school and beyond. The spiritual successor to that calculator is this one, officially dubbed the fx-83GT PLUS. Why Casio felt the need to use that idiotic ALL CAPS formatting is beyond me, but given that car-like "GT" moniker maybe it can be considered the equivalent of go-faster stripes. Styling is not something I care much about when it comes to ...  Read the complete review

Use this nearly every day and it hasn't let me down! (321 words)
by - written on 14/02/13 (Very useful, 63 readings)

I bought this calculator when I was doing my maths GCSE and since then it has come with me through A Levels, and now I'm using it every day at University. As I'm doing a chemistry degree, we use these for calculations nearly every day and it's never let me down. The model I have has a solar panel and a battery, which gives me extra piece of mind incase the battery runs out or the sun goes in! A cover for the calculator is also provided which protects the front of the device, and also has a sticker with instructions on how to do a few different calculations. The calculator has a large and clear display so you won't find yourself squinting to look at your ...  Read the complete review

Casio FX-83GT Plus Scientific Calculator: Easy as 1 2 3! (412 words)
by - written on 14/12/12 (Very useful, 49 readings)
Rating:

I have to have a scientific calculator for my course and have needed one since GCSE, so I bought this some years ago. It still works perfectly! Mine has a dual component to it - solar panel and battery so I can use it in any conditions and not have to replace the battery so often which is a major bonus as my previous calculator battery died just when I needed it most! It costs around £7.99 (in most stores and online) which isn't very expensive for a good quality basic scientific calculator especially from a trusted brand like Casio. The calculator itself is very light and compact so it fits easily into a bag/is easy to carry around day to day if you need it ...  Read the complete review

Watch out world, maths is hitting back! (330 words)
by - written on 17/04/12 (Useful, 111 readings)
Rating:

I first bought this calculator as i needed it for my maths exams. Since then, i haven't looked back and this calculator is all i use, even for simple things. After all, it helped me to pass my exam! Looking at the calculator, it is much more stylish than any other scientific calculator out there. The mix of colours of a blue on button, an orange clear button and black for the numbers means you can get your fingers working quickly because it is clear what does what. The buttons are also quite big so you dont end up pressing the wrong one. Even if you do, you can just delete that number instead of the whole equation. The big middle button at the top allows you ...  Read the complete review

Casio FX-83GT Plus Scientific Calculator: No pocket should go without! (212 words)
by - written on 17/07/11 (Useful, 18 readings)
Rating:

Through all my years of education it appeared every time when it really was needed like those fun times called tests, the spurious calculators would cough, splutter and bow out with maximum inconvenience. Distraught and distrustful of all other brands and models I found myself searching far and wide for anything new with the some sort of reliability. This was the model I found. I was definitely impressed initially by the price, a mere £5 for what seemed like a very extensive set of functions. Not only did it impress at first but continued to provide a satisfactory product further more. It is hard to convey the excitement of having a calculator, something that ...  Read the complete review
