I should maybe explain my title. This 'disco' part of it. This torch as three settings. Only 1 LED, all 3 LEDs OR (here's the good bit) FLASHING aka Disco.
I'm not sure what the practical use of disco setting is. Someone thought it might be to help save battery life. It's really handing for annoying people and attracting attention from happy strangers at festivals.
The torch is surprisingly light and very very comfortable. The wide elastic straps are easily adjusted to fit even the biggest heads (I actually have a pretty big head and thought it might be a bit of a squeeze) and the back of the torch itself is covered in a sort of neoprene material. Once you've got it on, you very quickly forget about wearing it.
Unlike other wind up torches I've had in the past, this one doesn't take very much winding and the light lasts for quite a long while. The winding mechanism is a little noisy, but I doubt that really matters. It's so much better than having to remember to carry batteries around with you everywhere.
Overall I would suggest this torch to anyone going to a festival or general camping trip. It looks a bit silly but it's very very practical, and you can have a huge amount of fun with disco setting.
Never thought this would be on here, This is a great torch and was so fun on our night out.(i should probably explain...right?)Skip to the 2nd paragraph if you don't want to read the story. Well, me and a few friends all decided that we would by some gillie suits and all sorts of other things that we will never need, then spent a night in a woods as a taste of survival in wooded areas, brilliant fun.. i recommend this sort of thing to anyone who loves being scared out their wits by screaming foxes :P
On with the review. The light itself is 3 LED units that provide a brilliant light that makes it very easy to work in dark conditions. The head strap is a very comfortable fit and is easily adjustable. The detachable wind up means that you don't have the extra weight of the mechanism strapped to your head, Although saying that its not very heavy anyway. I have found all sorts of applications for this including fixing car faults at the side of the read(at night of course), the occasional powercut, getting at pipes at the sink and even cycling in the dark.
The headstraps design means that the lamp is always fully secured on your head with very very little moment. I havent tried it but it feels sturdy enouh to run around with it on your head. However i do find that sometimes if you hae not correctly adjusted the strap after a while it can become slighly uncomfortable, however this does not usually happen.
This is a great torch that is very cheap but very good and durable. A definite buy if you are looking for a head torch.
As usually, bought from trusty Amazon, Draper 40407 Three LED Wind Up Head Lamp was a bargain. First of all, it was on offer then for only £5.50 against £21.80 full price. It's now available for £8.23, still a great value for money.
I bought this item for emergency car kit.
It is an LED lamp that you strap to your head with a comfortable adjustable, padded elastic band.
You can position the lamp tilting it up or down for your convenience. Thanks to that your hands are free to engage in whatever repairs are there to be done in emergency situation.
This product is also very popular with anglers, cyclists on the camp and with anybody else, who requires hands-free light.
We soon found out how ingenious the lamp is for around the house little jobs, e.g. access to under the sink pipes or reading utilities meter and many more other things to do in areas without direct light.
The lamp has three LED units, thanks to which it gives bright light with no dark spots.
Best of all features is a detachable winding unit, so no batteries are required. You can charge it at any time without outside energy source or need for batteries. Just one minute of wind gives twenty minutes of bright light. It is quick and easy to use. With this lamp you'll never find yourself stranded in the dark, you simply charge it as you go.
The winding unit is separate and connects to the lamp via cable provided.
Boxed product weight is only 282 g, which makes the lamps itself very lightweight.
I got it delivered just at the beginning of January and consider it a very good and bright start to the year 2010.
