“ Brand: Inspiration Works / Type: Bottle Opener „
I must admit I am quite a big fan of Family Guy. This is probably quite important considering this is a Family Guy Brian Griffin Bottle Opener that I am reviewing! Available for around the £10 mark online this product maeska fun gift but it could be said that the novelty soon wears off - even for the Family Guy fans! Standing at around 6 inches tall the bottle opener feels sturdy but ultimately is made from cheap plastic. Brian Griffin is my favourite Family Guy character, so this product appealed to me before I had heard his five most popular quotes. Unfortunately a quote is given each time you open a bottle with this bottle opener and so it can soon become tiresome. Apart from the cheap plastic I can't really pick fault too much with the operation of this bottle opener, it has an appealing design to it but an On/Off button could be a useful addition if I am being honest! Even Brians biggest fans will get bored of his voice after a while. Due to this product been a novelty item I think these negatives are forgiveable. I almost forgot to mention how good the bottle opener is at opening bottles! With a length of around 6 inches it is ideal for creating enough leverage to easily prise open bottles of your favourite drink. The Family Guy Brian Griffin Bottle Opener will give you and your party guests a few minutes of fun, but unfortunately it has to be said that you are probably better off using a standard bottle opener and saving a few quid. Overall I think if you are a big Family Guy fan or you want to buy a gift for a Family Guy fan then this a good birthday party item to use. £10 isn't a small amount of money, though. Personally I would look at getting a different Family Guy product as the constant drone of Brians' voice soon becomes annoying.
Being a huge can of the cult TV show Family Guy, as well as being something of an admirer of drinks of the bottled variety, one of the presents in my stocking this year was this Family buy Bottle opener (Brian). The bottle opener itself is a thick, tall plastic material with the character as a figurine almost and the bottle opener on the feet. It all works a treat as a bottle opener and I have no had issues in that respect. Very solid and tough as well as being heavy due to inside components. When opening a bottle it plays one of 5 quotes for the series all of which are the usual Brian esque deliveries which are amusing once or twice but get really irritating after a while and there is no way, other than to actually rip the product apart, to remove the voice box. One other impressive thing about this product I found anyway was that it also acts as a fridge magnet which provides a good storage idea. I am always throwing things in kitchen drawers and adding them to places where they shouldn't be so having it being able to be stuck on the fridge eases my search for a bottle opener at 11pm on a night after a few bottles! Good idea! All in all though what more can I say, it does its job perfectly at getting your precious bottles open. At around a fiver its more of a novelty gift for someone than anything else but the fridge magnet idea, the quality of the bottle opener and the actual fact I am a family guy fan helps me enjoy this product!....although the quotes are getting a tad annoying.
There are a few negative reviews on the product, and I do admit I can see why. I was given this as a present by a friend who didn't know me and didn't know I disliked Family Guy. After using it a few times at the party, I gave it to one of my friends who is a much bigger fan of the show. This product is a bottle opener shaped like the Family Guy character Brian the dog. By itself, the product is pretty decent, I have to admit. I mean, it does exactly what it says it will. It's also a fridge magnet so when you're done with it you can pop it back on the fridge to not lose it anywhere, and always have it close by. For that it's pretty good. I mean it's just a bottle opener - nothing special. The plastic modeling on the body is pretty decent too, and is shaped and made to look like the character. It is about 5 to 6 inches in height and made of cheap-feeling but durable plastic. You know that when you open a bottle you don't run risk of breaking the thing in two. What really gets me about this is the gimmick. The bottle opener plays one of five (count 'em, five) quotes from the character every time a bottle is opened. For those of you who don't know, Brian the intelligent character in a show full of idiots, so you know you're getting some pretty cool quotes. The problem is that this gets really, really boring incredibly quickly. Five beers later you've played all of those quotes (Which are alright but not worth hearing a dozen times over) and you know that every time you open it you'll have to hear him go on. After a while we were just using the key chain opener one of my friends had. So what to say about this? It makes a good novelty gift, but in thought only. After a while it kind of gets boring, and probably best left on the fridge.
This is a product that really isn´t worth buying, it costs 7 pounds and the idea is that when you take the top off a bottle with this opener Brian emits one of 5 utterly hilarious lines. The trouble is just like those hilarious birthday cards that make a farting noise everytime you open them, the novelty wears off incredibly quickly and you yearn for a good old fashioned mute bottle opener. The irritancy factor becomes so much that it should be offered to alcoholics as the desire to open a bottle of beer utterly dissipates at the thought of hearing this stupid little plastic figurine utter Áaah I need a Cocktail, or whose leg do I have to hump around here to get a drink. The item is 5.5 inches and does its job but you do yearn for the batteries to wear out as it does grate after the first use. It is not particularly ergonomically friendly and the 3d figurine is actually a hindrance when you are trying to get the top off the bottle, overall I have to say its not brilliantly made and I don´t use the product anymore, the plastic fascia began to come off soon after a few uses and I took the batteries out to avoid irritation, but in my opinion it is a lovely novelty but not an adequate product when needs must. It does its job, it looks fairly similar to Brian Griffin, but it is awkward to use with a bulbous plastic handle (Brian´s Body), it is the kind of thing you buy someone when you don´t really know or like them, or as a last resort, it is sold as 3-D which basically means the figure isn´t flat but is rounded, it looks similar but not totally like Brian and overall i´d suggest you stick with your tried and trusted bottle opener, its not sarcastic, it doesn´t look like a cartoon figurine but it does its job without complaint, without irritating and is damned good value for a couple of quid when you consider you´ve probably had it for ten years. A novelty and one which wears off as soon as you take the plastic packet from it.
This Brian Griffin from Family Guy bottle opener is a relatively pointless and vastly overpriced novelty item that is certainly not paying more than a pound for. Its not funny at all, even for big fans of the show. The likeness to Brian Griffin is also very crude and badly designed. It has a plastic upright model of Brian Griffin above the metal opener itself, and when you use it to open a bottle, spouts in really poor low quality sound one of Brian's quotes. There are five of these in total, and since it was created quite some time ago, they are all classic yet cliche` ones from the first and second series, perhaps most notably; "Whose leg do you have to hump to get a martini around here?" At parties, this is nothing short of annoying, and often results in people scrambling around to find a slightly less innane, obnoxious, bottle opener. Its made of plastic and not particularly robust, and the sounds quality deteriorates after a while and after about a year of occasional use, is reduced to nothing more than an unpleasant rumbling drone. The batteries are not replaceable or rechargable, so after its short lifespan is over, its totally over, and you've wasted your £8.50, yes, £8.50! A complete and total rip off for a bottle opener anyway. Avoid.
