Advantages: It will work FOREVER......that means....forever......yup ....it'll never die....Can you beat that?

Disadvantages: This wasn't invented sooner

I believe in Miracles.....and Science.

This flashlight may not be a divinely inspired miracle, but it truely is a scientific one. I might have aced my physics, chem and Bio classes in college, but even I can't tell you in coherant detail how this exactly works. Although, my father could. He's explained it too me a few times. In layman's terms, this is what I got out of it.....

You have a Generator and a Capacitor. Now for all you Electronic Nerds out there, you'll know exactly what this means. Most of us though, don't speak Electro-Language. So, simply put, a Generator in this case, is a magnet with a copper coil conductor. This magnet when it passes through the coil, creates a magnetic field that produces....small amounts of electricity!

There's a circuit system inside that takes these small bursts of electricity and turns them into current which then gets pushed into the capacator which holds a two sheets of conducting material that has a positive charge on one of them and a negative charge on the other, with an insulator inbetween. How this works, I have no idea, It's a bit like a battery only it's not....It collects this electricial charge from the magnet and whamo.....Let there be light!

*****Why this Flashlight is the Only One You'll Ever Need*****

Let's see maybe because it lasts FOREVER with NO BATTERIES? Yeah, that sounds like a good reason. =)

The only way this thing will stop working, is if you try to take it apart to figure out "how it works" or if you drop it down a cliff, or if someone accidentally sets it on fire.....otherwise, your set for life.

My dad is a gadget god. If there is an intelligent gadget out there to be had....he'll have it. When he found out these were invented, he went out and bought a few dozen. I recieved two (one as a back up in case I lost the other.....which if you knew how much I lose things, you'll know i've already lost that one).....and my sisters and brothers recieved a few and then he hoarded the rest and placed through throughout his garage, barn , and house.

Everytime I want into my parents house, I see one of these flashlights hanging around somewhere. Normally, I'd roll my eyes and say my dad is being OCD , but in this case, he's just being smart.

These flashlights come in handy at the weirdest times. Lets say you've gotten a flat tire in the middle of the country and it's dark outside with no lights around you. Well, if you keep one of these flashlights in your glove compartment, fixing your flat tire wont' be a problem. Instead what usually happens in this case? You keep a NORMAL , BATTERY powered flashlight in your glove compartment. When you take that out, it is inexpliciably ....out of power.

Or.....let's say the power went out of your house and it's nighttime.....instead of trying to find candles just keep a few of these flashlights by your door or in easy to reach places.

The times you will end up using this are too many to count. I have accumilated over 6 of these now and I still think I probably should buy a few more.

***** A MUST have for the Backpacker and Camper*****

The most obvious reason to have one of these is if your a Camper or Backpacker. They will save you from many headaches that normal flashlights give you......Do you know how many times i've dropped this flashlight in the water? At least 50......I do a lot of canoeing , kayaking and white water rafting and waterproof normal flashlights sometimes don't always work. Then you have that "battery" problem again. Even if you use lithium re-chargeable batteries, they do eventually need to be re-charged, and when your in a bind and out in the middle of the forest, you need to be SURE , a flashlight will work for you.

One time when I was exploring and backpacking with a friend in Scotland, our GPS system we had broke. Of course, it broke when we were in the middle of a climbing a very tall hill (some would call it a mountain=). It was beginning to get late and while Scotland stays light outside until the wee hours of the morning in the Spring/Summer.....it does eventually get dark.

After climbing to the top of the mountain we set up camp. We got a fire going, and cooked some dinner, then went to bed. My friend had to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and took his "Lithium powered" flashlight with him. I was still sleeping at the time so didn't realize he had gotten up in the middle of the night. I woke up though a few hours later, still dark and, saw he was gone.

I thought he had woken up to go to the bathroom and figured i'd wait for him to come back, and then go myself. 30 minutes passed and he wasn't back. I was starting to get worried and started calling out his name. Nothing...... I got out my trusty "Forever Flashlight", shook it a few times, and started to look for him.

The mountain we were on , was a very slopeing type. At the top it leveled out, but it had a lot of gradual and sudden dips. You had to be very careful where you walked or you could slide down easily. This is exactly what had happened to my friend.....After about two hours of me frantically searching for him, I finally found him on the opposite side.

He had slipped and slide down a large portion of a slope and hit his head on a rock. It had knocked him out and he'd lost his flashlight. I was able to find him when he answered my call finally and had come too, but I couldn't have done it without my flashlight.

To have a flashlight on for two hours straight and never need to worry about it going out is very comforting when your looking for someone who is lost. My friend was ok and played the tough guy after that by refusing to let me leave him and get help to take him to a doctor. Why do men hate the doctors!??

Anyways,.....I always tell him that he was saved by a flashlight. He rolls his eys at that and says I would have found him fine in the morning, but who knows, maybe a wild animal would have gotten him or he could have rolled down the mountain further in his sleep!.....Either way, he knows now how providential this flashlight really is and has finally bought a few for himself. =)

***** Dear Forever Flashlight Inventor *****

Will you marry me?

Seriously......Your a genius. I know Edison was pretty cool in inventing the lightbulb and that Marconi was awesome for inventing the record player. You though.....your on that same level . Alright that might be a tad exaggerative. Let's just say that if those guys were alive today they would probably hang out with you.

Thank you for saving my stupid "I-hate-going-to-the-doctor-even-if-i-have-a- concusion" , friends life....and overall just being extremely useful. I think everyone should buy one of your flashlights....or two or fifteen of them.

Your biggest fan. =)

You can get these online I would imagine. I'm not sure since I bought mine in the States. They cost around $5.00 each there when bought by the Dozen and around $8.00 when purchased one by one. So they might end up being 10 pounds or so here? I'm not sure, you'll have to just type in "Forever flashlight" and see where and how much.

Summary: A flashlight that almost defy's nature....You must have one....If you don't, you will be laughed at

I certainly need one of these, as batteries in this country costs an absolute fortune, almost to the point where only the rich can afford it now. Very nice review!

Excellent review, but watch in the future that you write "you're" rather than "your" when you mean "you are" - sorry to be pedantic, but it's really annoying!!!
