Umbra Fotofalls Photo Tree
Advantages: Easily assembled, looks lovely, can easily swap and change photos
I had a small space in the corner of my living room which was too narrow for any furniture but looked very bare with nothing to adorn this particular corner.
My daughter came up with the perfect solution last Christmas when she bought me an Umbra Fotofalls Photo Tree. She always buys the best presents and spends hours, if not days, choosing an appropriate present for anyone she buys for. When I unwrapped this she said she thought it would look good in my bare corner (I thought I was the only one who disliked this naked area of my living room) and also commented that it would be a better way to display my beloved family photos.
The Fotofalls Photo Tree was easy to set up, I just had to screw the central pole into the base of the tree and then screw in the top section and fan out the individual branches to arrange the photos. Everything fitted together perfectly and it was an easy process separating the branches so that my photos would all sit nice and tidily.
Once assembled it looks very much like an umbrella and is an extremely attractive addition to my living room. It is made of nickel and has a very nice shine to it which I have discovered is very easy to clean using a damp cloth or baby wipe, and then I buff it up using a dry cloth to recreate the shine of when it was brand new.
It is very stable and even when my baby granddaughter runs near it there is barely a wobble, this is because the base is quite heavy I think. I had been expecting the base to be wider as I have my grandchildren visit often and I would hate this to fall on them, however testing it on different surfaces has proved to me that it's safe and will not fall over unless deliberately pulled - and then it is their own fault!
Each branch holds one photograph, and they are held in place with a flat crocodile clip. The clip has no sharp edges so will not damage or mark my photos in any way, it is also possible to twist the clip slightly so that your photo is at the perfect angle to look good on the Fotofalls and you are also able to position your photo in the best place for viewing. It holds 36 of my photographs and they look absolutely wonderful displayed in such an unusual and attractive way, as mine is in the corner I have turned some of the branches around so that my photographs can be seen as I would hate a gem of a shot to be turned towards the wall and not seen. This does not spoil the look of the tree, although it has lost some of it's pretty umbrella shape.
I love the way I can easily change the photographs I have displayed on my Fotofalls because it is simply a case of unclipping them to remove and then clipping my new choice in their place. I also like the fact that I do not have to stick to standard size or miniature photographs as I would in a multi-photo frame because this will comfortably hold any size or thickness of photo. I have large sized school photographs displayed as well as some tiny passport photos which my granddaughters had taken recently.
In fact this Fotofalls Photo Tree could be used to hold much more than photographs. It would make a fabulous Christmas Card holder (which I will probably use mine for this year) or even if you have a large enough kitchen you could use it to display laminated copies of your favourite recipes. The clips open wide enough to accommodate three or four sheets of paper so the uses for this Photo Tree are endless.
It stands around 5ft high which is perfect in my opinion as any higher would have people needing to crane their necks to see the photographs. It looks beautiful and I am so pleased with this wonderful Christmas present that I am thinking about buying my sister in law one this year because she is also a big fan of photographs and is always looking for unusual ways to display them.
The Umbra Fotofalls Photo Tree costs £36 on amazon.co.uk and although this sounds expensive I think this item is timeless so you will be able to display it in your house for an awfully long time, it is also of very good quality so will last forever. Considering what a beautiful addition this is to my home, I cannot foresee any circumstances that I would want to replace it with something else so I definitely think it is value for money.
Summary: A gorgeous and unusual way to display your photographs.
