When we moved house my mum decided the time was right for putting my 2 year old sister into her own bedroom, it made sense because my mum and dad's bedroom was smaller than in the old house and fitting a cot in that room would have been a nightmare. To make it a bit easier for my sister we all went shopping one day and even though she was only about 20 months old at the time we gave her a pretty good choice of the things she wanted in her room.
When we was looking in Wilkinsons at the pictures she saw this bright pink My Little Pony clock and even though at her age she doesn't NEED a clock, it was in the sale and was a very reasonable price at £3.50 so we brought it for her.
The clock looks LOADS better than in the photo Dooyoo have got up, it's a brighter pink and the numbers stand out a lot better. The hands of the clock are thick and black so little kids who are just learning to tell the time won't have any problems in seeing what numbers each hand is pointing at. The second hand is bright red and it sweeps across the clock nicely, probably not accurately enough if you had to time seconds for anything but how many times is a 2 year old going to have to do that???
The picture of the pony on the clock is nice, I've never been much into My Little Pony so couldn't tell you which pony it is but I know it's a very cute one! It's printed in colours to go nice with the edge of the clock, the pony is pink and purple and it does stand out a lot better than you would think by looking at the photo Dooyoo have got up.
The clock is very well made I think, the edges of it are a thick plastic which stands out brill against the face of the clock. It fixes to the wall using one screw, that wasn't provided and I thought that was a bit weird but it wasn't a problem because the back of the clock is a bit like a picture frame so you sort of dangle the clock off the screw. The backing is a bit of a strange shape though so you have to mess about with it while you're hanging the clock to make sure it's straight..... that took my dad quite a while and he got a bit annoyed when he saw the backing plate wasn't actually ATTACHED straight in the first place!
It doesn't keep the time all that well and that would drive me mad if I had a clock in my room that I couldn't rely on. Again though that's not really much of a problem for little kids because even if they can tell the time they only need to know that it's ABOUT 8pm or whatever.
One BAAAAAAAAAAAAAD thing about this clock is how loud it ticks! We've got quite a big house so even though my sister is nearly 3 we still use a baby monitor when she goes to bed and you can hear the irritating ticking through the monitor all night! It does my head in big time but eventually you get used to it and it must be quite soothing for my sister because when the batteries run out recently she noticed the lack of ticking and slept quite badly that night even though she's usually out like a light.
Talking of the batteries, this clock takes 2 AA sized batteries. They last pretty good and we've only had to replace them once in the nearly 18 months that we've had the clock. Reckon they'd last a lot longer if all the power wasn't being used for such a loud tick though!
Recommended..... but not for kids who can't sleep with the slightest noise in their bedroom because the ticking is MADLY loud!
