Ikea Chopping Board Dralla
Advantages: cheap, flexible, different colours
Disadvantages: scratched and marked very easily
I always buy Ikea chopping boards as they are so cheap and I replace them so often. I'm a bit of a hygene fanatic and so I replace my chopping boards every 3 months with new ones. I firmly believe that there is bacteria lurking in the crevices on the old ones, my husband thinks this is a bit over the top, but he goes along anyway. I normally buy the 'legitim' chopping boards, they used to come in a pack of two, one large and one small for just 99 pence, now you just get the one large for 99 pence. I know that this is still ludicrously cheap, but I felt a bit cheated by this so I decided to try these instead the 'dralla' chopping boards.
You get a pack of two very large, very flexible chopping boards for just £1.99. Both chopping boards are the same size 37cm x 29cm, and they are each just 2mm thick. You get one red and one green in the pack, I've kept the red one for meat and the green one for fruit and veg, see my hygene ocd coming out here!
They do say to hand wash only, but I put them in the dishwasher all the time on a heavy duty 65 wash and they are still in perfect shape, they haven't been warped or ruined at all in the dishwasher.
I love these chopping boards, I don't know I ever lived without flexible chopping boards before. They make it just so easy to pour all of your chopped vegetables into the pan, or to transfer all of your vegetable peelings into the bin. Previously half of the veg would be all over the kitchen counter as I tried to scrape it into the pan, and half of the vegetable peelings would be all over the floor as I tried to scrape them into the bin. Now I just flex my chopping board and pour things in without spilling a drop.
I'm definately going to make these my chopping baords of choice every 3 months in Ikea now.
