iSlice Ceramic -Tipped Cutter
Advantages: Easy to use and no cut hands
Disadvantages: None at all
I'm not naturally good at craft projects, my cutting lets me down, the same if I do any decorating, my wallpaper cutting skills are not good, so my Mum bought me one of these little gadgets from Lakeland. The iSlice is a nifty little cutting tool that will virtually if not fully eliminate the use for scissors, well personally speaking anyway.
The i Slice costs £4.49 from Lakeland but it is also available from Amazon for just £2.99. It is supplied in a plastic pack which allows you to clearly see the product. The packaging had a few examples of the things the iSlice will cut, these include paper and plastics.
The iSlice is approximately 6.5 x 2.5 cm's in size which in itself could be a problem if you keep it in a drawer but there's no rummaging around looking for this little tool as it comes with a built in magnet, a simple but useful idea, as it means you can just stick it on your fridge and you always have it to hand.
It comes with a ceramic blade that wont actually cut your skin. and i Slice claim it wont rust or lose its sharpness. I cannot comment on these 2 points as I have only had mine a couple of months however in that time it has had an awful lot of use and I haven't noticed any difference in the blade. The main part of the i Slice is a rounded shape and is blue in colour. I'm not sure if there is a colour choice for this or not. The blade is hardly noticeable just a small bump on the bottom of the i Slice at the front.
To use the gadget is easy, you just need to run it along whatever it is you want to cut, however you do need to keep the i Slice flat. Its no good angling it down like a Stanley knife or craft knife you really do need to keep it flat. Once you get in the habit of doing this its really easy.
Since I have had my iSlice I have used it virtually every day for something or other. I use mine for opening parcels, that awful parcel tape is so hard to get into without breaking a nail and the iSlice will just wiz through it without cutting anything inside. I use it for wrapping presents and it will certainly get a lot of use in the coming months. If you need to cut around anything or cut anything out, coupons or forms this makes the job so neat and easy.
Recently I re vamped one of our bedrooms and papered just one wall. This gadget made cutting wall paper so easy. I was never any good at getting a nice straight line with scissors no matter how hard I tried but the iSlice now this job easy. As I mentioned my mum bought me this and she also bought herself one and is just as pleased as I am. She has arthritis in her hands and has struggled with scissors, the iSlice has made it much easier for her to open packs when cooking that she used to struggle with.
I would definitely recommend this gadget, its reasonably priced and so useful whether you suffer with hand problems or not, and with Christmas coming up it would make an ideal stocking filler.
Summary: A really useful little cutting tool
