Advantages: the easiest way to make dressings!
Disadvantages: bit expensive
my mum really loves kitchen gadgets so while hunting for a christmas gift, i came across this little gem and decided to snap it up.
for a start, it looks a lot "cooler" than a traditional pestle and mortar and is a lot more hygienic in my opinion as wooden models can become stained and ingrained with dirt.
This shaker was around £17 if i recall which does immediately seem quite steep for essentially a piece of plastic but it is worth the price because it is such a sturdy item. You can feel the quality of the piece and it isn't just something somebody has knocked up and slapped jamie oliver's name on.
It's so easy to use and you can even put it in the dish washer (although putting the ball in may not be such a great idea as it could roll off and get lost!!)
the ease of use with this is undeniable, for somebody who doesn't have very much wrist strength this is very suitable because you can just shake it around without having to apply pressure.
it's very simple to use, you just have to be careful not to lose the ball inside! you just stick in all the ingredients and shake away.
the product may not look like it can handle a good shaking but it really is very sturdy and you don't run the risk of it slipping out of your hands because of the grip on the outside. the only possible downside is the price, but my opinion is that it is totally worth it.
Summary: excellent alternative to pestle and mortar
