Jamie Oliver Magnetic Measuring Spoons
Advantages: Easy to use, magnetic, work well, simple to clean, can go in my spice jars, cheap.
Those people who read my reviews quite regularly will know that I love a good kitchen gadget. I like to have products that save time and space or just generally make my life easier. These Jamie Oliver magnetic measuring spoons are something that I won a few months ago at a 'Jamie At Home' party for the price of a £1 raffle ticket! Looking online I can see that these sell for around the £6-£8 mark and Amazon are currently selling them for £7.49 including free super saver delivery.
This magnetic measuring spoon set is three spoons that are three different sizes with a spoon measuring part on either end and the spoons are designed to be stored one on top of the other to save drawer space. These spoons are made of plastic so they are lightweight and simple to use. The handles are magnetic and this is where they stick together. The handles are curved which means that they are comfortable to hold and fit in my hand easily whether I am wanting to use one end or both ends of a spoon. They are strong and not flimsy at all which is a huge plus point of course. I have dropped one or two of these before and they've not suffered at all for it showing that they are durable. These clip together with ease and it is simple to pull them apart when I want to use one also.
The sizes of the 6 different spoon sections are:
Largest spoon: 1 Tablespoon & 1/2 Teaspoon (15ml & 2.5ml)
Medium spoon: 1 Dessertspoon & 1/4 Teaspoon (10ml & 1.25ml)
Smaller spoon: 1 Teaspoon & A Pinch (5ml & 0.6ml)
The measurements appear on the back of the spoons for easy viewing but I know which is which off by heart anyway now so I rarely refer to this.
I love the magnetic feature of this and of course this is the main selling point of this product. When I want to find them I am able to spot it in my gadget drawer and pull it out knowing that all of the spoons will be attached and I've never had a problem with them coming loose from one another or falling off when I pick them up out of the drawer. I find that I use at least two of these measurement segments each time I am making a recipe and this makes these incredibly useful to me as I have everything that I need to hand in just a few seconds.
These measuring spoons make life simpler for me and I am able to accurately measure out spices and other ingredients when cooking or baking. As I love to make home cooked meals as much as possible this is ideal for me really and couldn't be improved at all as a product!
When it comes to cleaning these I like to separate them in my sink and then clean them individually. I found that if I kept them together and tried to just clean the measuring parts that it was a nightmare and nothing was cleaned properly. Of course if they meet one another in the sink before I start the washing up they can clip back together but this is unusual and easily solved of course.
In all I love these measuring spoons. Obviously I got mine for £1 which was fantastic but I also love that they are magnetic, simple to clean, have easy to see measurements and that the thinner ends can go in my spice jars with ease reducing the amount of spice wastage that occurs when measuring out ingredients.
If you are interested in buying this I believe that selected products are available on Amazon and in Asda but alternatively you can go to a Jamie At Home party if you know someone who is having one and perhaps win something in a raffle like I did!
Summary: A fantastic set of magnetic spoons from Jamie Oliver.
