I saw an advert for bobble off and thought I had to give it a go. I have two good "old" trustworthy jumpers which keep making appearances year after year after year. My husband is desperate for me to just put them to rest where they really belong, but they're the warmest, most comfortable jumpers I've ever had and I just can't let go. Plus apart from being covered from head to toe in the biggest bobbles you've ever seen and are almost unrecognisable as jumpers, there's nothing wrong with them! They're also probably slightly furry too where I've pulled the biggest bobbles off, particularly under the arm and around the bosom area!

So you can imagine when I saw an advert for bobble off, the thought of possibly being able to make my jumpers look "ten years younger" made me feel quite excited. I happened to come across bobble off when looking around Woolworths closing down sale for £3.99, the normal price being £4.99, so I also got a bargain.

The packaging is not the best quality and looks like it was made in the 60's, but packaging is packaging, it was what was inside the packaging I was interested in.
When I got it home I immediately brought down my badly bobble ridden jumpers to put bobble off to the ultimate test. My husband ended up taking over at this point as it was a gadget and he couldn't resist.

It's a very basic contraption which consists of a covered rotating blade, a compartment to collect the bobbles and an on/off switch. There's a compartment at the bottom of the handle which holds 2 x AA batteries which are simple to insert and then you're ready to go.

There are instructions enclosed on a small piece of paper which are very concise and tell you all you need to know to use it effectively. There is a dial you turn to either long or short (long for thick items and short for thin) and other than that it's pretty self explanatory and doesn't take a genius to figure out how it works.

So now for the ultimate test! We turned the dial to long as they were thick jumpers and switched it on. My husband slowly ran the bobble off over the jumper and to my amazement and amusement it was actually working and we could see the bobbles filling the compartment! We did half the front of the jumper initially which included one arm and one bosom area to compare the two halves and the comparison was unbelievable. We had to empty the compartment of bobbles three times for just one quarter of the jumper! After finishing the whole jumper I had filled a clear sandwich bag full of bobbles, I could have made a baby jumper!

The results were amazing, the jumper did actually look ten years younger, it looked new again! I did the second jumper myself and the results were once again amazing. I have not had to use it on anything else so I am not sure how long it will last, but it was certainly put to the ultimate test on my antique jumpers. So for £3.99 I now have two new jumpers again, so if I never use it again it was worth it. It also says on the box it can be used on blankets, carpets, dresses, scarves and cushions.

This is a simple idea but in my experience is very effective. It certainly won't last a lifetime but then for £4.99 I wouldn't really expect it to. It does what it says on the tin and my jumpers are now fit for another ten years. Thank you JML and thank you on behalf of my jumpers.
