These things are brilliant! I had one years ago, which I loved but after a while (and a lot of use) it eventually broke and I took forever to get around to replacing it. I kept forgetting how brill it was and just put up with the bog standard manual can openers. Having tried several of these over the space of a year or two I finally became frustrated after yeta nother one refused to open a can, after I had only used it a handful of times, so I decided I was crazy not to have replaced my electric one! After finally getting round to getting a new one I will now never go back to the useless manual ones!

The one I currently have is exactly as in the picture but in chrome, which looks stylish on my worktop. Personally I don't find it too big to have on the worktop all the time, but if you were very limited for worktop space you may prefer to keep it away in a cupboard until required.

I got mine from Argos at the price of £16.99, which is pretty much the going rate everywhere, if not slightly cheaper. Don't let the price put you off; if I added up what I have spent on manual can openers over the last two years I am very sure it would be more than the price of this, which I hope will last me for longer than two years!

The can opener is extremely easy to use, simply hold the can up to it, push the handle down onto the rim so it 'catches' on and hey presto, it does the work for you! An additional point to make here is that this gadget removes the lid from the inside of the rim of the can, not from outside / underneath it, so you don't end up with a sharp edge. Anyone who has ever cut themselves on the blade-like edge of a can opened by many other types of can openers will know what I mean! Also, the effort to use it is so minimal, that I imagine it would be great for someone with arthritis for instance.

Once the can is opened the lid is held up by a small magnet, meaning you can just remove the can, without having to fish the lid out of the baked beans / peas etc! Then you can simply take the lid of the machine & dispose of it as normal. I like to wipe the 'blade' after each use, otherwise bits of food can build up on it, yuk! It also has a bottle opener attached.

If you don't have one and you have ever struggled with the many useless can openers on the market then you need one of these in your life!
