As sad as this may sound I saw this on Amazon one night when I was entertaining friends and we had a lot of...Beverages (no not coke-a-cola) and without thinking to long on it I bought it, I like gimmick toys, but only ones I can use.
I remember seeing the Betty Boop picture and thinking if only she were real, but nonetheless I found myself reaching into my pocket and pulling out my credit card.


The King Features Betty Boop Talking Bottle Opener comes in a clear transparent plastic packaging with a solid back part, on the front of the transparent plastic there is a cut out hole where you can touch it to hear her talk to you in the way only Betty Boop does.
Every time you open a bottle with it you also hear her phrases from a little speaker in the middle of the handle (which has freaked a few of my friends out).
There are instructions on the back of the packaging to tell you how to operate the bottle opener (why), for all you Betty lovers out there you will love all the pictures of her all over the package casing.


The first thing you notice about the Bottle opener when you hold it in your hand is that it is not a cheap rubbish quality that you would expect it to be because it is a novelty product, in fact it is a very strong and durable bottle opener if nothing else, I have had it about 6 months now and it is still fine apart from the fact that she stopped talking after about 4 months, but it's still good to look at, I even use her name when referring to my bottle opener (again sad I know).


The King Features Betty Boop Talking Bottle Opener is mostly all black with a speaker in the middle which is recognized as the circle of holes with a little hole in the middle, a picture of Betty Boop at the bottom winking at you (well it looks like its at you when you have consumed a few...beverages), with three kisses above her head all getting larger in size, it does have a little touch of tacky to it but I guess that is the point (a little bit anyway), at the top where the bottle opener is located the actual bottle opening teeth part is actually a silver.
The handle is a very strong black plastic allowing you to have a good grip on it every time, and even though you would think the picture is going to start coming off it's actually staying on and I have had a few parties now and this little opener is really being tested and is coming through every time.

Which is a little much, considering it's only a bottle opener but I have to admit it does entertain you for a while even though she does stop talking after a while.




Final Thought

It's a great novelty item and a very durable Bottle opener, would I of bought it if it wasn't Betty Boop...probably not, but it is a good opener even though she stops talking after a period, shame because it brought back so many memories when I was a kid.
