Klip Fresh Spaghetti Foodsaver

I have a bit of a phobia of bugs in pasta, I have heard a lot of horror stories about the grain pests or grain weevils as they are known that can infest your stock cupboards, particularly if your rice and pastas are stored in a warm environment such as a pantry or kitchen cupboard. This is the reason that I decided to buy a whole load of plastic air tight tupperware like containers. Obviously without splitting the spaghetti pasta in two I had to get a longer design to fit the dry spaghetti pasta in and luckily came across one in Tesco.

The spaghetti foodsaver is sold as seen in the picture. There is no extra packaging or frills with this product. There is a simple branded paper insert in the container that explains that it is an air tight spaghetti holder. The container is made of a tough, durable plastic material that is typical of these kind of products. The plastic is quite thick and ever so slightly flexible in that if you knocked it off your kitchen counter it wouldn't shatter or split like a thinner or cheaper plastic material, which is perfect for me being a bit of a clumsy person.

The spaghetti container is tall and thin shaped and stands upright so as not to take up too much space in your kitchen cupboards, although this may be too tall for some kitchen shelves. The approximate dimensions are 30 cm height, 14 cm diameter at the top and 10 cm diameter at the base.

As the products name suggests this plastic container has a clip on and off lid. There are four small clips spaced evenly around the lid at the top of thr tub. These are very easy to clip on and off but firm enough that you know the spaghetti is safe and sealed inside. Both the clips and lid has a dark coloured rubber seal around them that helps to keep the container air tight.

One thing I do not like about these clips on this type of container is that they seem to attract dirt underneath and staining from being washed up and being an off white colour does not help this problem either! I would much prefer a coloured spaghetti holder for my kitchen, although it sits in the cupboard 98% of the time it really isnt the most impressive or exciting spaghetti holder I have ever seen, but it is practical.

Saying that one advantage of the slightly see through design of this is that you can see how much spaghetti pasta you have left. This product holds 1.3 litres of spaghetti, which is great for me as I generally buy 500 - 1000 gram packets at a time. However if you are a bulk buyer you may find this too small.

Dishwasher safe - although might mark and look distressed after a few washes

I bought my spaghetti holder a good few months ago from in-store at Tesco for around £4, they are currently priced at the rather expensive tag of £7.32, which I think is pretty overpriced for what it is. However you can get similiar if not the same design in other supermarkets and high street shops.

Summary: A good practical item for keeping pasta fresh and bug free - shame they don't do multicoloured ones!
