Advantages: Makes life simplier
Being a single woman on my own with only the kids I hate to admit that there is anything that I cannot do on my own without the help of a man and luckily for me with it being 2012 there is a good chance that I can buy myself something to help out with those things that a man might have been useful for.
One of the simplest things that I do miss a man for is with opening glass jars. It may sound silly but more and more often I am noticing that they are becoming stiffer and harder to open on my own. I have no idea if perhaps I am becoming weaker (though I am working out more) or else more likely they are getting put on tighter in the factory.
Whatever it is I found it so noticeable that I was complaining to my sister about it who promptly bought me this jar key opener that is made by Lakeland.
The jar key is an ingenious little gadget which is made from solid plastic and although quite simple in design is really clever all the same.
It works sort of like a lever where you place it on the rim of a jar and then lift it to release the vacuum of the jar and pop the lid open. It is so easy to use that even the strongest of lids which were impossible for me to open by hand just pop off and as it takes so little in the way of strength to use even the weakest of people would be able to use this with no problems.
This would be an absolutely fantastic product for people who have difficulties with arthritis or even just people who have lost some strength through age just because it is so easy to use.
The actual jar key is so simple and self-explanatory to use that you don't get it out and spend ages trying to figure out what goes where unlike a lot of items for the kitchen which are supposed to make life easier but require a degree in physics just to know how to use them.
I would highly recommend the jar key to people as it is simplicity at its finest and is a genuinely useful item to have. They cost £3.99 and I think this is a small price to pay for something which makes life so much easier. Trust me when I say that since having mine I have used it so many times that it has more than been worth the money.
