Lakeland Magic Non-stick Liner
Advantages: Easy to use, easy to clean, long lasting, very much non-stick!
I absolutely adore cooking and baking but one thing that I hate is food sticking and unnecessary washing up. I had read about these Lakeland non stick magic liners for several years on and off thanks to review sites and so I decided that the time was right when I spotted one in store recently. These come in different sizes including the 33 x 100cm and 25 x 51cm ones that I now own. The larger one is currently £9.49 and the smaller one £5.49 which may seem pricey initially, as I thought they were, but actually turns out to be fantastic value for money.
These liners are very thin and they are coated with PTFE to make them non-stick and resistant to temperatures of 260 degrees. As I don't cook above 220 degrees ever this is ideal for me and should be for anyone else really. This is so simple to use and just needs to be placed on to a baking tray and then you put your food on top of this, as you would tin foil or greaseproof paper, and then the food will stay un-stuck!
I have used this for more than just cooking and I have also used this to provide me with a cool surface for rolling out home made pastry. I tend to put this in the fridge when I take out my pastry to bring it up to room temperature and this liner is ideal for this. Because it is cool and completely flat, as well as thin, it allows me to roll my pastry to any required thickness as well as use my cutters which do not cause any damage at all to the liners, well as long as I take care of course. I have used these liners for a variety of foods including pastry based products; sausage rolls, croissants (not home-made I must say!), brioche and also baked goods such as flapjacks, cheese straws, cookies, meringues and much more. I've not had a single piece of food get stuck to these liners yet and as far as I am concerned that makes them magic! I've used these liners for simple packet food too such as battered meats, chips etc and I've had no problems with those sticking either but I don't really have that problem very often with foil or other liners anyway.
These liners are very simple to clean and I tend to just use a sponge on mine. I like to soak them in hot water for a few minutes and then just wipe them clean using hot soapy water. They comes up clean no problem at all and I just leave mine balanced between some grooves on my dish drainer until they are completely dry where I store them with my other baking trays and related items. Of course both of my liners are very thin to store and I normally just tuck them among some chopping boards so that they keep their shape and are simple to find when I need them.
I would definitely recommend these because they are cheaper than buying lots of tin foil or greaseproof paper and best of all they work fantastically. I do not have to pick tin foil off food now and I have no problems using them or giving them a quick swish after to make sure that they are clean. I've not had any food stick to these and for that reason I am rating them 5 out of 5 stars.
Summary: A fantastic non-stick liner from Lakeland - its magic!
