Advantages: Nice Lights - Relaxing and Great for Parties
Disadvantages: Expensive
After being asked loads of times by my partner what I wanted for my Christmas I came across this and after reading about it decided that I really wanted one.
So to my delight I did receive one for Christmas and couldn't wait to get it working. It came in a large white box with orange round the side. A very simple box which made it look appealing.
Once open I came across a few different things. The laser pod which is about 35cm in height is aluminium and does feel quite heavy so you do have to be careful where you are leaving it so it doesn't fall and hurt someones toes.
In the box there was also two dome filters - one tall one which is a cream pearlescent colour and the other which is a lot shorter and is purple in colour. This is to give different effects from the laserpod. As well as these you receive a Ridged Glass Refractor Lens again for different lighting effects from the laser pod.
The product uses electronic lasers and three blue and purple LEDs. This intense light energy is projected through a crystal which is in the laserpod and it moves around so it varies the lights projected across the room or on your ceiling.
To use is very simple - you can either use 3 x AA Alkaline Batteries or there is a DC Adaptor to plug into a socket and work of your electricity. I have never used this product with batteries so unfortunately I can't tell you how long they last. The DC cable is quite long so you do have a lot of freedom to put it places.
Once you've plugged in or put your batteries in you can then simply switch it on. There is a small black button on the base of the laser pod which has the light settings for you. Just press it for the lights to come on and press again to change the settings. You can have it on with just the lasers or the lasers and lights.
I then tried the dome filters beginning with the tall one. I quite like this for when I have the laserpod on at nights just when i'm having a quiet night in. It makes a change from candles or a lava lamp and is really pretty but it doesn't let a huge amount of light out from it.
The smaller domed filter is pretty much the same but with a difference in colours slightly as it is purple. It again doesn't let a lot of light out in the room but looks really good when you sit and watch it. I find it quite relaxing.
The glass refractor lens is probably the most disappointing accessory as I didn't see much difference with it on, but it is supposed to make the lights look completely different. I just found it stopped the lights from being so bright in the room.
You don't have to have any of these on and when I use this at parties (or when we have singstar on) I find it looks a lot better with the lights off and just this lighting the room. The best way is to have the LED lights as well as the laser lights as it is much brighter for the room.
I would recommend buying a smoke machine if you were to buy one of these though. The smoke enhances the lasers and you can actually see the laser shine right across the room like a line instead of just a dot on the ceiling.
The price - from www.laserpod.com you can buy the pack for £58.72 which includes VAT and is free delivery in the UK. They also have many different laserpods if you decide that another one is right for you instead.
If you are interested on purchasing one you can find out the background on the company and laserpods on - www.laserpod.com
Overall I was very happy with my christmas present and people are always asking me if they can borrow it for a party they're having. It is very pricey for what you get but I definately say it's worth it.
Summary: Definately worth investing in a smoke machine with one of these
