Livescribe smartpen is one-thing that a student or any professional person need to carry on his or her daily note taking routine!

It is a pen, but with a twist to it. Inside the casing, exists a computer that stores what you write, and what it hears --- oh and links them together!
That makes a difference so great in magnitude that it shows a clear distinction between the era of technology we live in now and that of the late 90s'.

The pen is quite thick, but not as thick as to get you complaining about how hard it is to hold. It is extremely light, so you won't feel stressed about holding it for hours if you do.

The battery life is pretty amazing, having enough charge to get you through couple of days with moderate usage. The 2 GB memory can hold several hours of recording and scribblings!

The "search word function" in the software is amazing, and can recognise even my scribble! Although the price puts a frown on most faces, the use you may have for it makes it a justifiable purchase.

It has inbuilt piano feature that keeps me entertained when I am bored, and the translator feature is an attention grabber =)
The only drawback is the rather expensive notebooks - as the pen can only function when used in conjuction with the livescribe notebooks.
