Maglite Mini Torch
Advantages: spot to flood beam / batteries last ages
Disadvantages: no stand or support holder
This is the Mini Maglite torch which I use for everything from looking inside cupboards to doing work when the electric has to be switched off (as I did this week to insulate an electrical socket).
I have a few torches including a big old cheap plastic one for outdoors that needs throwing, an app on my new mobile, 2 mini torches, and one on my key ring. The one that I reached for when I went to turn the electric off was the Mini Mag, as it is in the kitchen drawer and it is quick and easy to use.
I don't want to be messing about with a mobile that has a drained battery, or has no buttons to feel, or an old torch that may or may not work. This Maglite is reliable and simple.
It has a hard aluminium case, it runs on 2 x AAA batteries and has a spare bulb in the bottom.
It has a maximum candle power of 2952 c - the beam is adjustable from spot to flood.
It is water and shock resistant.
There is a hard case or holster depending where you buy it.
I use this for everyday use not for emergency's only. I last used this Mini Maglite torch a few days ago when I insulated the electrical points in my front room for noise and smoke insulation. I turned off the electric and although it wasn't dark, I needed a torch to be able to see what I was doing properly. I had the Mini Maglite ready together with the other things I needed.
The LED bulb does not run down the AAA batteries much and lasts for many months or years depending on use. To turn the light from spot to flood beam you twist the end, which is quick and functional. This flood beam is what makes it different from my other torches and most other torches on the market. You can quickly see the whole area then narrow it down to the wires or hole you are drilling or whatever it is you are doing.
The only drawback is that it does not come with a stand, or anyway of fixing it in one place while you are looking for something or working. I balanced mine on some books and the beam was casting a shadow on the electrical socket so I had to use one hand and hold the torch with the other.
Summary: powerful mini led torch
