It is not often I enjoy spending long periods of time in the bath; I find I get too hot and bothered and simply quite bored. These Moodi Floating Globes actually make me want to chill out and relax for a change and don't worry, they are waterproof by the way! I bought a double pack of these online from a website called 'Well Presented Gifts' after reading an article about them in some trashy magazine. They were advertised as a colour changing/mood reflecting relaxing, soothing and above all de-stressing technique which sounded great for me after a hard and particularly demanding work schedule.
The Moodi Floating Globes are made by a company called Opal London, whose bathroom products have recently been over all the shops in the form of rubber ducks of all colours and patterns, I even saw them selling them in the Coop! I bought a two pack of globes, however you can also buy a single globe if you desire. These globes are completely spherical measuring 8cm x 8cm x 8xm. Their chief purpose is to be used in the bath and as such are almost completely rounded so they will float nicely on the surface of the bath water. In my opinion it would be nice to have the option of being able to place them in a room to create an ambiance or when you have guests in the house; however they do not seem to want to stay in one place and due to this I have only used them in the bathroom!
The idea behind the product is to run a hot bubble bath and have these floating around you whilst you soak in the atmosphere created by these floating, colour changing balls. They change colour at a steady rate including pink, blue, purple, green and yellow colours. The balls lighting is quite mellow, dimmed and softened by the textured and frosted off-white outer casing of the globes. This type of illumination gives off the relaxing and tranquil ambiance. These globes are at their best with dimmed lighting, I light some candles around the room and have the main light off which gives a particularly relaxing vibe. The globes are turned on simply by a tiny black switch on the underside of the globes. Once switched on you get the smooth, colour changing lighting that subtly blend into one another. The colour changing effect is almost camouflaged once you have wound down and these really make you feel like all your cares have faded away. I don't think you would get quite the same effect however without having the dimmed overhead lighting and candles, but the three together works brilliantly.
This product I have since found out has won the 'Gift of the Year Award', back in 2008. I would definitely recommend these for both personal use and as a nice and novel gift. In my pack I got a free 'sensual and tranquil cd' which I have not actually played but this is a nice addition and bonus to have with the globes, if you wish to use it. The product uses CR-2032 batteries in each globe, which are pretty easy to get hold of and not too expensive to replace, these are included in the pack. The Moodi Floating Globes retail for approximately £10 per pair so a reasonable price if you regularly enjoy relaxing in the bath tub. I would give this product 4/5 stars overall, a lovely addition to any bathroom and definitely relaxes and unwinds you after a long, hard day
