Mr Potato Brush
Advantages: Its useful, not just a gimmick
Disadvantages: None for me
We recently had a big Dunelm Mill open up near us and that's where I saw this cute little kitchen gadget, Mr Potato Brush. Its a simple little thing but he's got such a quirky face he appealed to me.
Mr Potato Brush comes with little packaging its just attached to a round card with a plastic cover moulded over the brush, it has Mr Potato Brush written one side and the same again on the other but in a foreign language.
Mr Potato Brush is basically a little brush designed for scrubbing potatoes or any veg for that matter, but its designed in the shape of a potato with a cute face on the front, similar to Mr Potato Head the children's game.
He stands just over 3 inches tall and is approximately an inch and a half wide, he has 2 nice green feet so he will stand up on your sink or windowsill if you choose. He's quite realistic looking complete with little dimples in his skin, he also has a little smile and googly eyes. From the front it just looks like a little potato with a face, the brush is on the back of him. This is white in colour and looks just like a nail brush with nice firm bristles.
I find this little brush very handy when it comes to preparing vegetables, I personally don't buy my veg all ready washed, my potatoes come in sacks with half the field still on them, this is not really a problem but when I'm doing baked potatoes its nice to know the skins are really clean, this is where a little brush like this comes in very handy, also when it comes to new potatoes its nice to leave the skin on, a little brush is ideal for cleaning them first.
I've been pleased with my Mr Potato Brush, I must admit I was only drawn to it because of his happy little face but since I've had the brush I have used it virtually every day, the bristles have kept in shape and haven't bent at all, the brush is easy to hold, the rounded shape fitting nicely in my hand. I personally have mine standing on the windowsill at the moment but when summer is here I will store it under the sink to avoid any flies getting on it.
The brush is not suitable for the dishwasher and should be washed using warm soapy water.
I'm not sure if this is aimed at getting children helping in the kitchen or not but in my opinion if you have children and want to encourage them to help out something like this would be ideal. I paid just £1.99 for my Mr Potato Brush and in my opinion that was a good price.
Summary: A useful cute little vegetable brush
