Paladone Desktop Henry Vacuum Cleaner
Advantages: It is easy to construct
Disadvantages: It does not suck anything up
At Christmas time I do have relatives who give me novelty items which they think will be funny and this Desktop Henry vacuum cleaner was meant to be the novelty item this year.
I have always found the bigger vacuum cleaner Henry Hoover very funny and when I knew they had the desktop version out I wanted one but never plucked up the courage to get myself one.
When it arrived it was in a box and very easy to put together with a top which you screw to the bottom section and you have the main lead which allows you to suck up various items.
The vacuum looks every bit the same as the bigger version with the colour and design and the actual wheels as well are very well designed. Although the design might be nice for some to accept in my view the overall performance is really poor.
The vacuum needs three batteries and these are AA batteries and they are difficult to place inside the top half of the vacuum which to be honest is very heavy. The 100g apparently this item weights most of the weight is on the top half which is annoying.
The lead extension from the vacuum is good enough in terms of length but the accuracy is poor. I put a small amount of crumbs on to my desk and turned on the vacuum with this very tiny button on the top. You could feel the sound of the vacuum attempting to suck up the item but it hardly does.
You have to actually put the extension onto the crumb and hope it manages to get sucked up into the vacuum and although the amount you can store inside the vacuum is great the overall suction is poor.
I have got some other items I can attach to the vacuum which allows me to pick up various other items on the desk I have got but they rarely get sucked inside. I admit the batteries have lasted a while and the sound it generates makes you believe that is can do a decent job but it cannot.
The wheels are sturdy and move around with ease and the actual construction of the vacuum is easy to complete. The design is excellent in how it appears compared to the bigger version but it fails to do a job it is meant to.
I understand it is small and people will claim it is a toy item but most items have a purpose and if this item cannot even suck up simple and tiny crumbs of my desk then it shows it has no real purpose overall. I would like to see better suction control and perhaps this would help increase my interest in this product.
The best place for this item is on the side somewhere to decorate a home because otherwise it is a pointless product to own as it does nothing it is meant to do. I did not pay for my item but they vary around the £7 and upwards mark.
Summary: Useful as a decorative item
