Poundland Office Stapler Set
Advantages: Cheap. Works for small documents.
Disadvantages: Filmsy. Cannot staple more than about 8 pages.
I bought the Poundland Office Stapler Set from Poundland (surprisingly!!) when I started the course I'm currently doing back in September 2011. I was only looking for something cheap to staple my coursework together and didn't need anything that would need to stand up to too much pressure. The Poundland Office Stapler Set seemed ideal because it was only £1.00 and it looked to be all that I would need for the duration of my nine month course.
It is referred to as a "set" because you don't only get a stapler, but also some staple refills and a stapler remover. I'm not going to lie and say it doesn't look cheap because, quite frankly, it does - but in my opinion it doesn't really matter what a stapler set looks like as long as it lives up to the task. For the record, the staple set is pink (it's also available in blue) and it's made of metal and plastic. It does feel a little flimsy to the touch, but again, it's understandable that it's not built to withhold a bomb blast or anything like that! It also doesn't feel like it's made to last forever, and I guess if you want something that's going to last a long time then you would need to spend more than £1.00......as I've said many times, I believe you get what you pay for!
However, those things aside, the stapler does work and so from a functional point of view it's okay. I say it's okay, but it's really only okay as long as you only want to staple a few sheets together. Anything more than about 8 sheets and the stapler simply doesn't stand up to the job. I think this is more to do with the fact that the staples are mini staples and so the prongs are only long enough to staple small wads of paper - and so again if you're wanting to staple larger documents then this isn't for you. I haven't found that the staples stick in the stapler or anything like that - and so that's a definite positive. As for using the staple remover, I haven't had that much cause to use it, but I would say that this is slightly better quality than the stapler and it's likely to last longer than the stapler. It works well, not only with the small staples supplied, but also with larger staples from other staplers.
Overall, this is an okay stapler for minimal use as long as you don't need to staple large documents.
Summary: Ok as long as it's for limited use.
