Poundland Office Stapler Set
Advantages: Chunky design, solid, easy to use
I bought this stapler as I needed to staple some leaflets together to distribute to neighbours on behalf of our residents association of which I am a member. I was sure that I had several staplers somewhere in the house and as I thought would happen found two of them within a week of buying this one. I didn't go to Poundland specifically to buy this but I saw it in there when I went to buy some other bits and pieces and thought it was worth paying £1 even if it didn't last too long. They have now changed from the photo shown above and are now available in black and purple and I chose the purple one.
It comes in moulded plastic which I did need scissors to get into and enclosed is a purple stapler and a small box containing 500 no 10 staples which I would describe as average size. The stapler itself looks quite chunky and does feel substantial and quite solid when you hold it and you don't feel as though it is going to break or that you have to be particularly gentle with it. The purpose I bought it for was to staple three pieces of paper together, two of which was a newsletter and the third was a list of local recommended tradesmen which we produce from time to time. There are quite a few elderly residents where I live and they especially like to go on personal recommendations rather than pick someone out of the blue.
I found that this stapler easily went through the three sheets of paper and the arms of the staple closed firmly around on the back of the paper. I would think would be suitable for a lot more sheets of paper and would get through them easily but I have not used it for more than three sheets. When I first had the stapler it was filled with staples but I found it easy to refill, you just pull the top to open it up and insert the staples into the channel and then push it back together until it gives a sort of click. I have filled it up with staples three times and there are well over half the box left and as I will probably only use it occasionally due to finding my other staplers what is left will probably last me for some time.
I can say that I am very pleased with this stapler for the bargain price of £1 and consider it money well spent. It is far cheaper than any other staplers I have seen and although I haven't used it a lot I can't see any difference between this and more expensive ones. I would definitely buy one of these again (and probably will do when I can't find any of my others).
Summary: Does exactly the same as more expensive models - why pay more?
