Nice alarm clock, but not reliable

My boyfriend bought me this alarm clock as a present for christmas last year. All I wanted was just a ordinary alarm clock which would wake me up for work in the morning. When I opened this alarm clock and saw it was radio controlled I thought it was going to be a nightmare to set up and get along with.

However when I plugged the alarm clock in, all you need to do is wait for it to receive the time. This took about 5 minutes, and the time is always completely accurate once it picks it up. However I have had problems now as I have a thing about leaving things plugged in whilst I am out of the house, when I switch it back on at the plug socket at night, it sometimes takes about 20 minutes for the time to set up right. I do wish it was a bit quicker in receiving the time, sometimes I just set the time myself manually as it is too slow. Although if you are going to leave it plugged in 24/7 like most people do it will always have the accurate time so you wont have this problem every night!

The display is big and clear, although a bit too bright, I have to face it completely away from the way I'm facing in bed as it is too bright for my eyes. It ends up facing the wall most nights as the brightness keeps me awake. It also displays the date and temperature of the room, which to me seems to be accurate. The room temperature usually says about 22 degrees most days.

One thing I do not like about this alarm clock, is the lead at the back can be a bit temperamental and can come out very easily if you pick up or move the alarm clock, causing you to have to plug it back in and wait for the time to reset again!

The alarm is very loud on the alarm clock and always wakes me up, although I have had quite a few mornings when the alarm has been set and it just doesn't go off at all for some reason. I always put the alarm clock on my phone on too just as a back up now incase it doesn't go off.

I do like this alarm clock, it has a big display and I like how the time is completely accurate, but it isn't reliable waking you up every morning and it takes a bit too long to reset the time, I don't think I would purchase this alarm clock again, I think I would just stick with a simple alarm clock next time!

A great little clock for those too lazy to remember daylight saving!

Well, we have certainly had some good times together me and this alarm clock... well I say good times, perhaps it's not my favourite gadget first thing in the morning. However, It has been totally reliable in the whole 2 years I have been using it.

Though it uses a mains supply for the backlight (which is bright enough to be clear in the dark, but not so much that it keeps you awake) the actual clock and display runs on battery - and I haven't had to change it once! The display is also big enough to discern the time from across the room, which is really useful if you quickly want to check the time before dashing out.

The fact that it is radio controlled is a real bonus. You can know that the time is bang on even if you've forgotten daylight savings. You don't have to speculate as to whether it is a few minutes too slow or fast, as I sometimes do with other clocks round the house.

I really like the temperature feature which, although sometimes a little slow to adapt, is a nice feature, if a little unnecessary!

The only criticisms I have with the device are minor. The alarm sound, which is a simple beep which increases in frequency over time, can get VERY annoying - but I would say this is the whole point of an alarm! However, one unfortunate feature is that it automatically switches off after 5 snoozes. So those of us who really enjoy our snooze time may find themselves forgetting how many times they have snoozed, going back to sleep expecting a repeat alarm and waking up an hour later, subsequently late for work!

It can also be fiddly having the settings controls on the back of the clock; either you learn exactly which all the buttons are and operate it facing forwards, or you have to turn it round every time you want to adjust the alarm. Perhaps the control would have been better placed on the front, as it must be front-facing anyway to see the time.

Overall I really like this clock and it is still going strong after 2 years of constant use. It is nice to look at and ticks all but a few of the boxes for the perfect alarm clock!
