I usually prefer torches of the wind up variety now but after seeing this torch at my local car shop. I managed to pick this up at around the £13 mark.
The reason this torched appealed to me was the fact it was LED so wouldn't chew through the batteries, also the fact of how bright it was and you can adjust the beam depending on your intended use.
Adjusting the beam means you can use it as a narrow beam which will light up a good 100 metres in front of you in the pitch black if not further, or as a wide spot-light which will light up everything immediately in front in bright white light.
The torch beam is adjusted by twisting the head of the torch and this is actually the only disadvantage I have found so far as this also seems to loosen the battery cover causing the torch to go out.
The torch itself is an anadised blue colour with a blue aluminium case. The on/off button is on the rear of the torch. As mentioned the head of the torch twists to adjust the beam and the rear of the torch unscrews and the body of the torch houses three AAA batteries. The bulb end of the torch houses a single 1 watt CREE LED which is claimed to be three times brighter than a normal LED and I would vouch for that. The torch gives out 70 lumens of light and I believe the fact that it is a white light LED accounts for a great deal of this.
Overall a great torch I use it for walking the dog twice daily at around half an hour at a time, and only end up replacing the batteries around once every two months
