This brings back memories of drinking games and university!!! Its been a while since I had the pleasure of using one of these devices but in the years of using them in games, drinking fun and to get on peoples nerves, it has proved to be such a worthwhile product. Bags of fun although not for faint hearted!
Basically, this is a fun way of detecting lies. Is it accurate? Does it work? Before I answer those I will tell you from the off that this a product that is all about having a laugh. What you basically do is strap your hand, or the hand of the person you are interrogating, to the large metal base, turn it on, set it up and ask questions. As soon as the machine assume a lie is being told....bang. An electric shock is given. A short, sharp pulse of electric shocks that's enough to make you jump even on the lightest setting.
So first and foremost what is the shock like? Well to be honest its quite darn strong. There are two settings on this model and the lightest setting will still make you jump out of your socks. It packs a punch and you feel the need to scream as it rushes through your hand. So you can imagine the highest setting is something you really do want to avoid as best as you can. It will make you scream and then scream again. Hair will be on end, jumps will be made and laughs will be had. It has been too much for some and I have had a few people play this who were clearly not expecting it to be so strong and they didn't take kindly to it. Its dangerous in some respects and some people will hate being shocked but most with an open mind and a tolerance for pain will find the shock level just right enough to thrill.
Accuracy? Well the machine does from time to time tend to be spot on but then again telling the truth and being shocked occurs very frequently and similarly telling lie after lie and avoiding shock is just as fun. It is not all about accuracy though, its about fun and having a laugh and this certainly does that. If you really want a true lie detector this isn't such a device.
This device requires 3 AA batteries and these should last quite a while depending on use. This is a safety measure as if plugged into the mains, and a malfunction occurred, you could be fried more than intended. It also has a suction plate on the bottom of the device which acts to keep the device in place on the table and means you are locked in and cannot escape a shock. Everything about it is well made from the tight, durable Velcro grip to the overall make up of the model. This has taken a fair bit of abuse from my time using it and has survived!
All in all as a fun game this is ideal. It has warnings on not to use for people with heart conditions etc and is for ages 14 and above only. But anyone and everyone else will enjoy this I am sure and there is nothing more hilarious than seeing your friend get shocked, but always in the back of mind knowing...you're next!
A fun and accurate way to test the honesty of your subjects!
